Mad Decent Block Party’s Maryland Stop Takes Toll

Reports have surfaced that one death and 20 hospitalisations were recorded at Friday’s Mad Decent Block Party in Columbia, Maryland. The Mad Decent Block Party was hosted at the Merriweather Post Pavilion with performances by household electronic names such as Flux Pavilion, Wolfgang Gartner, What So Not and Mad Decent front man, Diplo.

The Howard County Police stated that 20-year-old Tyler Fox Viscardi, of Raleigh, N.C., was rushed to a local hospital just after 9:00 PM on Friday. Shortly after, he was pronounced dead and it appears this tragedy was drug-related, though, officials are still working to determine what type of drugs were in his system.

As previously mentioned, reports of 20 hospitalisations due to drugs – including one of a 17-year-old boy that remains in critical condition, but no test results have been released to confirm the suspicion or identify what sorts of drugs are to blame. Alcohol was also an issue at the event, where 50 citations were issued for underage drinking.

Though no official statement from the party itself has been released, Mad Decent head Diplo expressed his condolences via Twitter.
