Pack your dancing shoes, because Zeds Dead are set to take you Somewhere Else with their latest piece of work. The Toronto duo have been hard at work on this new release and at first listen you can definitely tell.

Following on from The Living Dead and Hot Sauce, the Canadian bass duo are back with their brand new eight-track EP Somewhere Else.

The great thing about this release is that each track highlights a different aspect of Zeds Dead’s sound that has driven them to become one of the major players in electronic music today.

Part of the diversity evident in the EP is a result of Zeds Dead’s collaboration with a myriad of artists in six of the tracks, adding to the quality of the EP as a whole.

‘Lost You’ features Twin Shadow and celebrates the addictive beats of deep house – but despite being an atypical sound for Zeds Dead, this track has seen major airplay with over a million plays on SoundCloud. ‘Stoned Capone’ on the other hand, is a smooth hip-hop influenced track laced with the lyrics of Omar LinX along with the percussive and jazzy riffs of Big Gigantic. Adding to the melting pot of sound is a fantastic collaboration with Dirtyphonics called ‘Where Are You Now’ – a dubstep track full of bass and strengthened by the vocals of Bright Lights.

Known for their hip-hop and dubstep foundations, the range of sound Zeds Dead is capable of manipulating and creating within the massive genre of EDM is quite impressive. The ability of DC and Hooks to cover a wide range of electronic music in an EP is a true testament to their dexterity with production, and a sign of genuine musical prowess.

Somewhere Else is definitely worth a listen, providing a little over half an hour’s worth of auditory bliss for the EDM fan willing to let their mind wander to into a musical paradise unobstructed by the limits of subgenres.
