2016 Will Mark The End Of Carl Cox’s Ibiza Residency

With a residency at the infamous Space Ibiza spanning 15 years, legendary DJ Carl Cox will play his final Ibiza summer in 2016.

In an interview with DJ Mag, Cox noted “Next year will be my last year at Space Ibiza, so please do not miss a single night if you can, very special line-ups for 15 weeks. Watch this space…”

While the announcement may not come as a surprise who follow his massive career, the ending of one of Ibiza’s longest running resident DJs is a sad day for electronic music.

As we reported back in August, Carl Cox revealed his true feelings about Ibiza’s transformation from the dance community capital to a breeding ground for pure consumerism.

“It’s not just me being old, Ibiza is spoilt now,” says the British DJ/producer with an active career spanning over 30 years.

Although Carl Cox’s influence in electronic music is well defined, but his impact in Ibiza is pivotal, boosting Space as one of the most prolific dance clubs in all of history. Though he still has some time on the White Isle, the clock is ticking as this crucial chapter is closing.

If you have ever wanted to see the master at work in the legendary Space nightclub, start looking at flights!

With an alluring whispering vocal from RayRay and Dyro’s signature electro sounds, “To The Beat” proves to be the perfect dance floor heater and a brilliant meeting of the minds between the two artists. “I’ve created ‘To The Beat’ with the dancefloor in mind. Initially, I was working around a vocal sample, but teaming up with RayRay, we lifted the track to a new level. Tested during ADE – the track went off!! I can’t wait to play this out more and see the crowd respond. Having Steve and Dim Mak’s confidence in pushing this as the first of a new collaboration between myself and Dim Mak makes for an exciting start to 2024!” – Dyro RayRay adds, “It was fun to work with Dyro. He reached out to me with the floor-hitting production a few months ago, and we puzzled the ideas together and came up with the banger! I can’t wait to kick off my 2024 with ‘To The Beat’ collaboration with Dim Mak! Much appreciated for the support from Steve and the label!” Dyro’s journey to the upper ranks of the global electronic music scene has been fast and swift, marking him out amongst his peers as one of the most talented DJ/producers to emerge from what was an explosive new generation of artists. Fast forward just a few short years & Dyro exploded as an entity in his own right, marking his steps in history by becoming the youngest ever highest entry in the acclaimed DJ Mag Top 100 poll, remaining in the top 30 echelons of this prestigious list for three consecutive years. Starting Out on an upward trajectory ever since his inaugural releases on Revealed Recordings, as a producer, Dyro continuously crafted and developed his sound and personal tastes via darker and more experimental strains of electronic music. The launch of his solo imprint WOLV saw Dyro further hone his original take on driving bass lines and grittier sounds. • ARTBAT Release ‘Take Off’ Debut Collab With Armin van Buuren armin-artbat

Electronic Powerhouse ARTBAT Enlist Trance Pioneer Armin van Buuren for Debut Collaboration ‘Take Off.’ Sparked by a chat backstage at Armin van Buuren’s flagship trance festival, A State of Trance, back in 2023, electronic music powerhouse duo ARTBAT have teamed up with the trance pioneer for a trance-meets-techno collaboration: ‘Take Off,’ released today on Armada Music. Merging the pulsating bassline and rolling rhythm, characteristic of an ARTBAT production, with Armin van Buuren’s signature trance builds, melodic chords, and driving bass, ‘Take Off’ skillfully infuses the Ukrainian pair’s distinctive output with the Dutchman’s expertise, resulting in a fresh and dynamic cross-genre debut linkup. “Collaborating with Armin van Buuren, who is such a legend in the dance game, has been really special,” ARTBAT says. “We can’t believe this collaboration hasn’t happened before now, and we’re very happy that Armin asked us to do a collaboration, which has brought something so special to our sound. It’s been enjoyable to explore and push the boundaries of both our sounds. It’s an honor to have worked alongside such a groundbreaker in his lane.” “ARTBAT’s exceptional performance at last year’s ‘A State of Trance’ festival sparked immense inspiration in me,” Armin van Buuren adds. “Even though I was deep into album mode and immersed in a sound that is quite different from ‘Take Off,’ their music prompted a lot of ideas. I thought of the ‘Space Case’ concept and how its theme, spoken word, and trancey stabs would chime in with the unique ARTBAT sound. This collaboration feels like it’s been a long time coming, and I’m thrilled it’s now seeing the light of day.”  ‘Take Off’ is available now via Armada Music.
