A-Trak and Friend Within Join Forces On House Heater ‘Know Each Other’

At a time when the DJ sits firmly at the center of popular culture, A-Trak stands out as MVP, the key participant who holds together all facets of the craft.

As we dive into 2021, A-Trak is ceratinly heating things up with his new collaboration with Friend Within “Know Each Other.”

First sharing studio sessions for chart-topper ‘Blaze’ back in December 2019, A-Tak and Friend Within once again team up for a new single that’s sure to have house music fans fancing in their shoes. Though more than one year has lapsed since A-Trak and Friend Within’s first tie-up, the sophomore standalone in their collaborative saga is a soulful illustration of just why it was worth the wait. Touting instrumental texture and a high-class, old-school groove, “Know Each Other” cozies in on Toolroom’s roster of recent releases.

Friend Within, AKA Lee Mortimer, first emerged into the public eye under his own name in the mid-00s, surfing the electrohouse wave and racking up a string of club hits on labels such as Carioca, Cr2 and his own Wearhouse Music. But in 2013, as the electrohouse fad died away, he managed to reinvent himself as Friend Within – and catch a second wave.

The housier sounds he was peddling under the Friend Within moniker soon found a home on Dirtybird and Hypercolour, while an ubiquitous reworking of Wildchild classic Renegade Master and DJ support from the likes of Monki, B.Traits and Skream helped to cement his position at the forefront of a new wave of UK house producers that also included the likes of Disclosure, Eats Everything, Jackmaster and Shadow Child.

Half a decade later, Friend Within has released an extensive string of singles on Toolroom and has stamped his name on the house music scene and welcomes the latest collaboration alongside A-Trak to his catalogue of hits. Out now, get your first listen to ‘Know Each Other’ below!
