    • Vintage Culture remixes Jamie Jones’ Ibiza anthem ‘My Paradise’ vintage-culture-my-paradise-oz-edm

With Jamie Jones’ ‘My Paradise’ a clear front-runner as summer 2022’s Ibiza anthem, receiving support across the board from underground tastemakers to daytime radio, Brazilian superstar Vintage Culture now steps up to remix the track and continue its unstoppable ascent. While Jamie Jones explored disco influences with his signature high-energy groove on the original, Vintage Culture’s clear-cut trademark sound gives a distinctly tougher feel, as a chugging bassline, rolling synths, and melodic piano breakdowns work together to form a journey of a mix guaranteed to captivate dancefloors from start to finish. Vintage Culture, aka Lukas Ruiz, is an artist who lives and breathes the culture of dance music. The Brazilian artist has more than 1.5B streams online, gathers 8M across his social media platforms, and currently ranks at #30 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs of 2020 poll. • Fred Again Makes Triumphant Boiler Room Debut fred-again-boiler-room-2022-oz-edm-feature

Fred Again.. made his most recent show one to remember—by making his Boiler Room debut. The famed U.K. producer, who is quickly becoming a superstar in the electronic dance music space, turned up the heat and worked up a sweat in an intimate warehouse venue for Boiler Room. The London based performance was chock full of feverish button-mashing and a ton unreleased IDs. The DJ set came at a pivotal time for Fred Again.., who is readying last-minute preparations for his forthcoming album Actual Life 3 which is expected to release in a matter of weeks. After opening up with an unreleased collaboration with Swedish House Mafia, it was “look out below” as Fred again.. blitzed through a medley of groove-inducing tunes with an eager audience fanning a full 360° around him. The close quarters even led to a brief interruption, but he handled the situation and bounced back like a seasoned pro. The perrformances saw many special moments including Fred debuting an unreleased Skrillex bass house track. This track has been teased by Fred before, but the reaction is on another level this time around. With the iconic “my name is is Skrillex” before the drop, this banger detonates into a mad bass house groove that has the crowd going nuts (soon after, Yellow Shirt Guy makes a big mistake). Watch the full performance now online below!

    • Tommy Trash, Go Freek and Lucy Lucy Release New Collab ‘Darkness Into Light’ darkness-into-light-tommy-trash-go-freek-lucy-lucy

Three favourites of the Australian music scene, Tommy Trash, Go Freek and Lucy Lucy unite to bring you the euphoric dance weapon ‘Darkness Into Light’, out now via Club Sweat. Born out of the kind of ecstatic passion you only experience in the heavy fog and flickering strobes of a packed dance floor, this triple threat treats us to a fiery heater set to be a mainstay in pumping clubs and festivals alike. A powerful bass line groove and ascending synth stabs build intoxicating tension, before the husky and nuanced vocals of Lucy Lucy command the room, increasinging in intensity and leading to the ultimate release. The drop hits, bodies roll, and this electric trio remind you of what it’s like to fall in love on the dance floor. Who better to tell the story of this epic collaboration than Lucy Lucy herself, “‘Darkness Into Light’ was the by-product of the first debaucherous night after lockdown restrictions eased. Friends reuniting over a sticky dancefloor, finally back on our bullshit after too many months apart. Early in the evening Tommy, Caleb and I had arranged to do a session the next day – a few hours passed and we were definitely still out past our curfew. Caleb and I decide it’s a good time to have a club pash because maybe we were both really excited? We almost out of awkwardness didn’t do the session but we did and we now have this delicious song baby to show for it. Sealed with a kiss. Literally.” Go Freek confirms, “Writing ‘Darkness Into Light’ was about capturing the euphoria and ecstasy you would feel dancing the night away at a club pashing someone who you are falling in love with but only just met (which kinda went on the night before).” One of Australia’s most in-demand dance music exports over the past decade, GRAMMY nominated artist Tommy Trash returned to the scene in 2020 after a 2 year hiatus. Since then it has been full steam ahead for one of Australia’s most exciting electronic acts, with releases such as ‘Lil Bit’ with Peking Duk, the inaugural release on hau5trap with ‘hiiigh’, and ‘Emergency’ with Yolanda Be Cool. More recently, he released ‘Satisfy’ the debut record on his very own label Milky Wave, and ‘Jaguwawa’ on Sweat It Out receiving praise from the likes of Billboard, EDM.com, Dancing Astronaut and more. While recent years have seen the resurgence of Tommy Trash he has long been recognised as one of the top DJs of the era, breaking out with 2013 release ‘Reload’, which earned silver certification in the UK, going 2 x Platinum in Sweden, while his remix of deadmau5 ‘The Veldt’ earned him a coveted GRAMMY nomination. Time and time again Tommy Trash has proven his production and DJ talents are not bound to any genre or era, as he has electrified across festivals such as Tomorrowland, EDC, Ultra Music Festival, and more recently on his own headline ‘Jaguwawa’ across North America. Go Freek has become a leading force in the club scene locally and internationally, since breaking out with his ARIA Gold certified single ‘Define’, a collaboration with ARIA awarded dance producer Dom Dolla which has gone on to score over 50 million streams across platforms. Since then, Go Freek has gone on to release cross-over records such as, ‘Love Is The Weapon’, and ‘One Question’, while he recently released ‘Deep Cut’ on deadmau5’s own label Hau5trap as well as further releases on Solotoko, and Club Sweat with ‘Days Go By’, and ‘Be My Luv’. This year saw Go Freek collaborate with Mickey Kojak and Thandi Phoenix on emotive banger ‘Lose You’ via Sweat It Out. The Sydney artist’s extensive list of tech groovers have caught the attention of the likes triple j, SiriusXM, EDC Radio, Happy Mag, Acid Stag, and Purple Sneakers and endorsements from tastemakers such as Idris Elba, FISHER, Camelphat, Claptone, Anna Lunoe, Christian Martin, Porter Robinson and Diplo. No stranger to the dance scene, Go Freek has multiple AU/NZ tours under his belt as well as performances at EDC Las Vegas, Paradisco, Beyond Wonderland and Rabbits Eat Lettuce, to name a few. This past year alone has seen Lucy Lucy collaborate on and off the stage with some of the most prominent artists in Australia & beyond. Including the likes of SLUMBERJACK, Example, Chilln It, and What So Not, she’s proving she’s got the chops to party with the best of them, garnering millions of streams and an adoring fan base. After working exclusively within her electronic duo Yuma X since their debut in 2015, frontwoman and vocalist Lucy Washington recently embarked on her solo project Lucy Lucy. Recent singles ‘$25’, ‘Sugarcoated’ and ‘Apple Tree’ have garnered great support from triple j and triple j Unearthed with Declan Byrne noting her affinity for “mixing slinky, bouncy pop with lush, warm sounds…” and that “it’s always a treat when it comes to Lucy Lucy.” ‘Darkness Into Light feat. Lucy Lucy’ by Tommy Trash & Go Freek is out now via Club Sweat.

    • Golden Features Returns With News Single ‘Touch’ golden-features-touch-2022-oz-edm

The wait is over! Acclaimed Australian electronic producer Golden Features today makes his highly anticipated return with his rousing new single “Touch” featuring Rromarin. Golden Features has turned out to be an apt name for the artist born Tom Stell, a nod to the gold mask he wears while performing. “Touch” marks the first taste of new music from Stell’s Golden Features, after a literal golden run since bursting onto the scene in 2014. Since his 2018 debut album SECT and the launch of 2020’s collaborative project BRONSON (with ODESZA), Stell felt creatively spent and needed time to recoup. Instead of opting for the traditional R&R approach, Stell emersed himself deep into clubbing mecca of the world, Berlin. There, he lost himself in the city’s renowned techno bunkers and hedonistic clubs, dancing with strangers, stripped of phones and returning to the apartment in the early hours to hunt for the tracks he’d heard the night before. Four nights a week spent raving only came to an end when COVID closed the clubs down. But Stell returned to Australia revitalised and most importantly, inspired. “Touch” encapsulates everything Stell took away from his invigorating stint in Berlin. A track that’s both moody and light, layered with pulsating rhythm, hypnotic beats and the duelling deep and wispy vocals of Rromarin. “Touch was born from that synth riff. I fought it for so long, feeling it was too happy and upbeat. After giving it some space I reharmonized everything under the riff and it instantly made me feel something. Claire (Rromarin) had actually recorded these vocals for another song on the record, but the lyrics just felt right for Touch” says Stell on the new single. “To me it encapsulates that feeling after the rave… At the kick-on laying with your head in somebody’s lap, smoking a cigarette while they play with your hair.” Now with two platinum and six gold ARIA certifications for his tracks, 275+ million global streams, an acclaimed and beloved debut album in 2018’s SECT (#1 ARIA Dance Albums Chart, #1 iTunes, Triple J’s Feature Album), selling out two shows in 4 hours at the Sydney opera House, headline slots at major festivals both at home and abroad as well as forming the BRONSON project and releasing their self-titled album with stadium-conquering US electronic duo ODESZA under his belt, Golden Features has cemented himself as Australian electronic music royalty, returning now as an artist at the top of their game. Stay tuned for more to come from Golden Features, in the meantime listen to the new single “Touch” below!

    • Spencer Brown releases div003 EP – ‘Reforma / Polybomba’

Spencer Brown continues his string of impressive releases on his newly minted diviine label with ‘Reforma / Polybomba.’ The ominous ‘Reforma’ shows off Spencer’s darker production side with its brooding techno sounds (plus it’s paired with a remix from the iconic Weska). ‘Polybomba’ skews more towards the progressive indie-dance side of the house music spectrum and delivers on an ID Spencer’s fans have coveted for quite some time. A who’s who of the electronic music elite have been supporting spencer’s music in their sets including Adam Beyer, John Digweed, Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, and Ida Engberg, to name a few. “The third release on diviine showcases my darker side,” Spencer says. “‘Reforma’ is a groove tool that has been exploding in my sets. It was first debuted in Chicago, and the crowd reaction blew me away. The main sample along with the drum fill are both me playing the drums! ‘Polybomba is a progressive indie-dance leaning stomper. I opened my massive diviine inspirations show in San Francisco with this track, and it’s been a highly requested ID since then. Both tracks fit perfectly on diviine as “chill bangers” with creative freedom.” With regards to tapping Weska as a remixer for ‘Reforma’ Spencer adds “I’ve looked up to Weska as a producer for years. My most played track on Spotify in 2019 was Weska’s “EQ64.” During the pandemic, we became friends and worked on a few collaborative ideas (all unreleased at the moment). It’s truly an honor to have him as the first remixer ever on diviine with this killer roller.” “I’ve always looked up to Spencer as an artist, a DJ, and as a genuinely cool dude, so I was stoked when he asked me to give Reforma a spin. The original track is pretty percussive with a few melodic elements and a vocal sample, so I had a lot of creative freedom when writing it. The result is a deep, chugging, and slightly progressive groover that I hope you all will love to play,” Weska shares. Out now on all popular streaming platforms, get your first listen to the new EP below!   ‘Reforma / Polybomba’ Tracklist: 1. Reforma 2. Polybomba 3. Reforma (Weska Mix)

    • Alan Fitzpatrick Injects Nostalgia Into Peak-Time Techno Two-Tracker ‘Stronger / Chant’ alan-fitzpatrick-2022-oz-edm-feature

The UK-based veteran constructs a pair of nostalgia-laced techno weapons for his label debut on Factory 93. Southampton’s venerated producer Alan Fitzpatrick washes over with nostalgia on his new double-sided single ‘Stronger / Chant,’ serving as his label debut on the burgeoning Factory 93 imprint. A universally respected and in-demand producer, Alan Fitzpatrick has succeeded in carving out his own musical niche within the ever-expanding genre of techno, earning him the reputation of a seemingly unstoppable source of hit music. This ability is on full display on his debut appearance with Factory 93 Records, ‘Stronger / Chant.’ “Stronger” kicks off with hard and crispy drums before a well-timed backspin effect gives way to a piano-and breaks-combo that will transport clubbers back to 1992. As the kick comes barreling back in, chopped-up diva vocals soar through the mix before everything cuts out to unleash a flurry of rave stabs. The track absorbs all the best elements of classic rave into a peak-time techno mind-melter. “This track was born during the early lockdown stages of covid,” says Alan Fitzpatrick. “I was just reminiscing on the good old days and memories of early rave culture.” says Alan Fitzpatrick. “Nostalgia crept in a lot during this time, and I wanted to express that through the frustration of uncertainty around touring.” “Chant” is a more straight-ahead warehouse workout with its relentless beats and chunky low-end. Ethereal vocals and pads give the track an eerie tinge as it develops, with skittering hats and claps twisting through the mix to add to its driving intensity. “A nod to the tribal techno vibes of the ‘90s and early noughties; I really love the energy in this track, and I think it’s a great pairing with ‘Stronger’ due to the fact they are very different,” he adds. “Both are packed with energy and I’m excited to share them with the world.” Alan Fitzpatrick has been pushing the underground culture ever-forward for more than a decade and counting, and his debut release on Factory 93 honors his roots in the best way imaginable. Alan Fitzpatrick’s new release ‘Stronger / Chant’ is available on all platforms via Factory 93 Records.

    • Carl Cox Announces ‘Electronic Generations,’ His First Album in 10 Years carl-cox-2022-new-album-oz-edm

DJ legend Carl Cox finally reveals details of this brand-new artist album, ‘Electronic Generations’ his first record in over 10 years. With the announcement also comes another new track release, ‘How It Makes You Feel’ with Nicole Moudaber, out now. This techno juggernaut is the second ‘pre-mix’ release from the album, following the first single, ‘Speed Trials on Acid’ earlier this year – a collaboration with his friend and fellow DJ Fatboy Slim. With its relentless synth chops and pounding melodies, ‘How It Makes You Feel’ levitates into a ruthless percussion delirium, before a high octane breakdown tops off the hardcore house techno hybrid sound. It’s another bold statement from the King of techno and another exciting taste of his forthcoming new album ‘Electronic Generations.’ ‘How It Makes You Feel’ is the second time Carl and Nicole have collaborated, following their acclaimed 2014 release ‘See You Next Tuesday.’ Nicole first came to the attention of Carl when she signed to his label Intec Records back in 2009. Since then the pair have become firm friends. Carl invited Nicole to remix his own track ‘Chemistry’ in 2011 and Nicole Moudaber has played alongside Carl Cox at countless festivals and clubs including his Carl Cox & Friends festival stages and Carl’s historic Space Ibiza residency. When the opportunity arose to collaborate again, neither hesitated. “In today’s darkness of techno I wanted to create something more jovial. So the original is quite an easy track to enjoy, it’s very bubbly and bouncy. But with this new version Nicole has made a very dark twisted re-imagining. It’s now very much epic techno – which you have to play from beginning to end to get the full experience. It takes you on a journey, and it just gets stronger and stronger with its twists and turns. Nicole is a genius. She’s able to take my original concept which might not be totally the kind of record she would make, but she likes a challenge and she set the bar high and ran with it. I think she’s done a wonderful job with this one.” – Carl Cox “When Carl asked me to collaborate again, this time on one of his new album cuts, I knew this track had to deliver that high-powered energy and rhythm that we always bring when we perform. ‘HOW IT MAKES YOU FEEL’ has been absolutely smashing dance floors worldwide, so I am excited to finally unleash this monster tune!” – Nicole Moudaber Ignited by an internal combustion engine fueled by raw emotion, Nicole Moudaber is one of the techno world’s most iconic and hardworking contemporary artists. The global reach of her MOOD empire has led to Nicole curating In The Mood festival stages at the world’s biggest events: Electric Daisy Carnival (New York, Las Vegas & Orlando), California’s Escape, and BPM Festival (Mexico & Portugal) and she’s played every clubbing institution possible including DC-10 in Ibiza, London superclub fabric, New York’s Output, and a long list of clubs across multiple continents including North America, South America, Europe and Asia. From the birth of dance music culture to the global force that electronic music is today, Carl has been an innovator at the forefront every step of the way, ‘Electronic Generations’ is the next stage in this journey and the beginning of an exciting new chapter as an album recording artist with BMG. Showcasing a fusion of Carl’s unique live electronic sound, the epic 17-track ‘Electronic Generations’ is the result of Carl’s mind blowing hybrid-live sets which he’s been successfully showcasing over the last few years. Anyone that’s been to one of these shows will have witnessed Carl in his element, remixing, producing and creating music while he plays. With the first lockdown Carl finally had time to focus on putting this sound on record, and spent months in his Melbourne studio creating music and experimenting as a live electronic artist. The result is Carl Cox at his best, a tour de force which you can feel he has given everything to. It’s an insight into the heart and soul of a hugely established and much-loved artist who 30 years into his career, is still keen to take bold risks and create something entirely new. “I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to share this album. As a live artist and a DJ I get to play all over the world and to see people enjoying the shared experience of being together and dancing. I’ve pulled together all the elements that I’ve learned from watching those crowds, added my sound and tried to bring you a true electronic music experience.” – Carl Cox Carl Cox has always been at the top of his game. A veteran of acid house and a pioneer of British rave culture embedded deep within the fabric of electronic music history, his ever evolving sound and relentless energy means that he remains one of the most in demand DJs on the planet. A musical ambassador, a dance music pioneer, label owner, three deck wizard, King of Ibiza – you name it, Carl’s been there and done it, never losing sight of his passions – playing music, breaking tunes and celebrating life. 2021 saw Carl release his first ever autobiography Oh Yes Oh Yes which topped charts and won press acclaim everywhere. ‘Electronic Generations’ is out September 16th via BMG. The digital version of the album also comes with a second volume of pre-remixes, including the new track ‘How It Makes You Feel’ with Nicole Moudaber, ‘Deep Space X’ with Juan Atkins and ‘Speed Trials on Acid’ with Fatboy Slim.
