Dimes x QUIX – Stacked [FREE DOWNLOAD]

When two of Ripe Record’s most promising stablemates join forces, you know the results are gonna be massive. With the release of Stacked, the QUIX hype train, already featuring the likes of Bauer and What So Not as eager passengers, builds in momentum.

A heaving, wobbling track which perplexes, fires you up and gets you bumping all in equal measure, Stacked is an interesting collaboration from Dimes and QUIX. Its bass gets you going, but doesn’t quite blow your head off, while its eclectic mix of samples and drops gets you thinking about its separate layers in a way that’s rare with a genre that’s often all about one simple thing.

With Stacked, Dimes and QUIX have crafted a tune that’s testament to the fact that the Trap genre can be refined, intelligent and capture a banging dancefloor vibe at the same time. Stacked is truly a stacked track, and in my opinion just the breath of fresh air that the trap scene needs.

    • Carnage’s Final Shows To Be Held at Australia’s Lunar Electric carnage-thank-you-farewell-tour-scaled-feature-oz-edm

After a whirlwind fourteen years in the dance music industry, famed Festival Trap founder Carnage has announced his retirement at the age of 31. Carnage’s groundbreaking work in the early 2010s helped usher in a new genre called “festival trap,” a thunderous, 808-heavy twist on the saturated electro music that dominated festivals at the time. Buoyed by a thriving SoundCloud community, festival trap quickly became a movement—and Carnage was its vanguard. While dance music was his primary focus, Carnage’s brushstroke painted a far more colorful mosaic in the music community. He operated as a prolific hip-hop producer, collaborating with a myriad of the world’s top rappers, such as Mac Miller, Migos, Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa, Young Thug and Meek Mill, among many others. Lunar Electric is set to host the final two performances from Carnage after he announced his farewell to the dance music community earlier this month. Lunar Electric will take place in Parramatta Park in Sydney on June 4, followed by Doug Jennings Park on the Gold Coast on June 11, 2022. Also on the bill with Carnage’s history-making set is a heart-thumping lineup featuring the likes of Pendulum, Darude, Sunset Bros, Tigerlily, Enschway, Dimatik, Hooligan Hefs and many more. • Moss Has Heart-Melting Bass On ‘Speed Dial’ In Latest Release With BRIA moss-speed-dial-oz-edm-feature-2021

Australia’s rising star Moss returns with a heavy-hitting follow up to ‘SABRE TEETH’, releasing ‘SPEED DIAL (feat. BRIA)’ via October Records. After making a splash with his triple j Unearthed DIY Supergroup winning track, Moss picks up where ‘SABRE TEETH (feat. Genesis Owusu)’ left off, introducing the single with subtle didgeridoo vibrations before the foot is pressed down on the sonic gas pedal. The Indigenous producer’s aptitude for utilising dynamic drums and powerful bass to evoke atmospheric and emotive narratives is on full display. He teams with Brisbane-based up-and-coming singer/songwriter BRIA who’s pertinent vocals centred around the uncertainty and instability of online dating, provide the perfect hook. Moss discusses the single and the direction of his sound saying, “I’ve teamed up on this record with powerhouse singer/ songwriter BRIA and we’ve built something very special. SPEED DIAL is the sonic infusion of the ups and downs of online dating – especially when they don’t text back. This single represents a development of my sound and I can’t wait for you to hear it. All gas, no brakes.” On the narrative behind the record, BRIA said, “The idea for SPEED DIAL came out of the 2020 Brisbane COVID lockdown. After everyone was exclusively online dating, I found hookup culture was more present than ever. Moss’ dramatic production was the perfect accompaniment for my narrator’s situationship.” Brisbane talent BRIA, who amassed a sizable online following across TikTok and Instagram, recently released her debut single ‘Taking It Off’. The track has seen airplay on triple j and acclaim from Declan Byrne, Tommy Faith, Abby Butler, and Dave Ruby Howe on triple j Unearthed. Embracing femininity and sensuality within her craft, she takes influences from the likes of Charli XCX, Lorde, and Caroline Polachek. Sydney-based producer, Moss rose to prominence earlier this year after taking out the triple j Unearthed DIY Supergroup competition, with his release ‘SABRE TEETH’, before announcing his signing to October Records. Sampling the likes of Alison Wonderland, Touch Sensitive, San Cisco, Vallis Alps, and Genesis Owusu, the latter of which jumped on as a feature artist, Moss crafted a very Australian moment, yet it was his iconic didgeridoo bass drop that impressed triple j presenters and listeners alike. The track went on to become one of the most played on the station, with Moss appearing on triple j’s Friday Mix, and Mix Up as part of NAIDOC week, while the single’s momentum carried it to the top of the Australian Shazam Chart. While ‘SABRE TEETH’ showcased Moss’ talent to a wider audience, the bass producer has been honing his craft with singles such as ‘From The Start’ and ‘Shimmer’ both of which premiered on triple j and rose the triple j Unearthed Electronic charts. Having already played alongside some of the heaviest hitters in the industry – Skrillex, RL Grime, Flosstradamus, Marshmello, just to name a few – Moss has positioned himself as a producer capable of rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s best.

    • Moss Unleashes ‘SABRE TEETH’ featuring Genesis Owusu moss-from-the-start-2020-feature-oz-edm

Fresh off being crowned champion of triple j Unearthed’s 2021 DIY Supergroup, Brisbane-based, Indigenous producer Moss officially releases ‘SABRE TEETH (feat. Genesis Owusu)’ and announces his signing to October Records. Impressing peers alike, the highly anticipated release captured the attention of the triple j audience from the first listen, with Genesis Owusu coming on board as an official feature artist. The bass-heavy single utilises samples from Touch Sensitive, San Cisco, Vallis Alps, Alison Wonderland, and the hard-hitting intensive vocals of Genesis Owusu, combining them with intensive breakdowns and a distinctive didgeridoo-infused bass drop. Moss elevates the defiant raps of Genesis Owusu, leaning into his Indigenous heritage for a dramatic production that finds its home on October Records. On the response to ‘SABRE TEETH’, Moss said, “The response to SABRE TEETH so far has been mind blowing. From the triple j text line to Instagram comments, everyone has shown such love for the track. Genesis Owusu’s vocals hit with such a powerful message and I wanted to connect that with my Indigenous heritage. I’m so glad everyone who’s listening is also connecting with that too.” Moss has combined his flair for emotive production and his passion for storytelling with the release of ‘SABRE TEETH’’, which received critical acclaim among many in the industry. triple j Breakfast presenter Ebony Boadu said, “This is easily the sickest drop I’ve heard this year.” While the upload on Unearthed received high praise from the likes of Lucy Smith, Dave Ruby Howe, Declan Byrne, and many more. The track has quickly become one of the most played on the station, while also receiving online support from the likes of NME and The Music Network. Beyond ‘Sabre Teeth’ his debut single ‘Lullabye’ surpassed 200,000 streams in its first month, following up with ‘idek’ which was supported by some of the industry’s finest including Marshmello, Yellow Claw, Jauz, Ghastly, and Zeds Dead among others. His recent discography in the form of ‘From The Start (feat. Kember Gold)’ and ‘Shimmer’ both received airplay on triple j, and also made their way to the top of the triple j Unearthed Electronic charts. In a few short years, Moss has already played alongside some of the world’s biggest artists that have had a great impact on Moss’ own artistry, the likes of Skrillex, RL Grime, Flosstradamus, Baauer, and Nero. Moss is far from an overnight success, but if this short warm-up is anything to go by, Moss’ name will be embedded on the world’s stage in years to come. Moss releases ‘SABRE TEETH (feat. Genesis Owusu)’ via October Records.

    • SLUMBERJACK & Nicole Millar Drop New Collab ‘Not For You’ slumberjack-australia-2021-oz-edm-feature

Already showcasing the light and shade across their 2021 releases as the forthcoming album title ‘Dichotomy’ so aptly suggests, Perth duo SLUMBERJACK share their latest blend of dark pop ‘Not For You’. For the release, the pair have teamed up Sydney’s own Nicole Millar – the talented singer-songwriter who has become one of the most sought after topliners after breaking through on Peking Duk’s record ‘High’, before going on to have an incredible solo career, with her debut LP ‘Excuse Me’ featuring a string of hit singles including ‘Tremble’, ‘Blindfolded’, and ‘Signals’. The new single perfectly complements each of the artist’s individual styles, whilst coming together to create a  seamless and magnetic component of the wider debut album due later this year. Detailing the contrast in their own style, the duo share, “For us, this song is all about that moment, right at the start of the chorus, where it feels like you’ve just executed the perfect double bounce on a trampoline and you’re absolutely floating. Definitely our bounciest record to date – which fits perfectly in the Dichotomy of the album, we wanted to explore both ends of the spectrum and you can’t have the darker stuff without the fun and playful records. Nicole also was incredible on this one, we went back and forth on so many amazing versions of the song but we felt like we nailed the one that made the final recording!”  Speaking on the opportunity to finally collaborate, Nicole shares “The boys and I have been friends for years and I’ve always been a big fan of their music. I had written a rough idea in LA a while ago and it had just been sitting on my laptop. I sent the idea to the boys and they fell in love, after working back and forth together they just really turned this song into something special. I’m so excited for everyone to hear ‘Not For You’.” Carving out their own unique space in the dance music scene in Australia, SLUMBERJACK have continued to prove themselves as innovators amongst their peers. Having been known for their big room bass records, and festival anthems, the duo’s ability to be fluid across genres without losing the incomparable SLUMBERJACK touch, has amassed them an army of fans around the world. This year alone, the duo teamed up with Sydnee Carter for the release of the powerful single ‘Poison’, garnering over 3 million streams to date, and support from triple j, and the release of ‘Memory feat. Tailor’ / ‘The Reprise’, again highlighting their extensive and creative range. • Hydraulix Drops New Collab ‘Waratah’ with Nitti Gritti hydraulix-2021-oz-edm

After eight years of consistent releases, forward-thinking bass and trap producer Hydraulix has announced his debut album Imposter Syndrome will arrive this autumn. In tandem with the album announcement, the Australian DJ and producer has shared the LP’s lead single, ‘Waratah’, with Latin Grammy Award Winning producer Nitti Gritti. ‘Waratah’, a one-of-a-kind trap offering that combines bombastic production with a minimalist flair, is available now across all streaming platforms via WAKAAN. ‘Waratah’ is brimming with sharp musical twists and turns that boast prime elements from Hydraulix and Nitti Gritti’s respective styles. The ferocious cut opens with on an eerily peaceful note, shrouding the track behind a false sense of security. Before long, ‘Waratah’ devolves into trap mayhem as sirens and heavily distorted bass announce the tone shift. The production takes a drastic turn at the drop when the over-the-top buildup cuts out for a singular shrill synth commands center stage. The springing top melody pairs well with the sporadic and grandiose percussion, making for an unexpected and unparagoned experience that sets an impressive standard for the rest of Hydraulix’s full LP. After a career spanning the better part of a decade, Hydraulix is ready for his biggest artistic venture yet with his forthcoming debut album. Bass fans worldwide know Hydraulix as a household name, most recently from his time touring across North America in support of Liquid Stranger and performing speaker-knocking live sets at festivals like Lost Lands, Bass Canyon, Wobbleland, E-Zoo and more. Often seen releasing via Wakaan, Hydraulix has been sought after by such major labels as Never Say Die Records, Disciple, RAM Records, and Circus Records, to name a few. After years of earning the widespread respect of the industry and the die-hard fans, Hydraulix’s long overdue debut record is sure to make massive waves for bass heads everywhere.
