    • Sultan + Shepard release new studio album ‘Forever, Now’ Sultan + Shepard release new studio album ‘Forever, Now’ - OZ EDM

Sultan + Shepard release new studio album ‘Forever, Now’ on Lane 8’s This Never Happened imprint. Sultan + Shepard are pleased to present their new studio album, ‘Forever, Now,’ available to stream today from Lane 8’s This Never Happened imprint. “When we began working on ‘Forever, Now,’ the world had started to open up from the pandemic, we had begun touring again, and it felt like the great thawing of pent-up feelings and emotions were being released from us, and also all over the world. Some of these feelings were beautiful and emotional, others darker and messier. Most of this album was written during breaks between shows when we’re back in our studio but we still had this sense of energy moving, flowing, and being allowed to trickle into new places with new feelings.  Not surprisingly, a lot of the music leaned towards more joyful energy, bursting with positive emotions while most of the lyrics and vocals we had recorded with our collaborators were asking deeper questions about longing, separation, and time passing. It was a time of growth and positivity amidst general change and often chaos for the world but also for us personally. The concept of “Forever, Now” grew out of this familiar feeling of being grounded in a place of creativity despite being in new places sonically or physically. We realized that wherever we went, there we were. Things were always moving and changing, as we ourselves were too. But through the act of being sincere in expressing our emotions, a sense of being in just the right place or hitting just the right note would often arise.” – Sultan + Shepard After a chance meeting at an after-hours club in Montreal in 2002, Ossama Al Sarraf and Ned Shepard quickly discovered they had a natural musical chemistry. They began collaborating on original songs and remixes, signing their first song to John Digweed’s Bedrock label. From collaborations with revered EDM artists such as Dillon Francis and Tiësto to remixes for major pop acts like Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, and Madonna, the duo established themselves as one of dance music’s leading partnerships. The next decade saw them tour around the world including stops at major festivals such as Tomorrowland, Ultra, and EDC. During this time they were recognized by their peers for major accolades including a Grammy nomination for Best Remixed Recording for their remix of Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out Of Heaven”; the SOCAN Music award for International Song of the Year for “Bad” (the multi-platinum single which they co-wrote and produced alongside David Guetta); and two Juno Award nominations for Best Dance Recording. Most recently the duo have returned to their melodic house and progressive roots, signing with Lane 8 and his label This Never Happened and launching a radio show Dialekt Radio. They have released multiple singles and EPs, collaborating with Jon Hopkins Angela McCluskey, Shallou, Le Youth, and others. In 2021 they released their second album “Something, Everything” to critical acclaim. Their new album “Forever, Now” is available now on This Never Happened.. ‘Forever, Now’ Tracklist 1. • Arky Waters Releases New Single “Back To You” arky-waters-feature-oz-edm

Arky Waters caps the year off with his new single ‘Back To You’ featuring the vocals of Jade Alice. This marks Arky’s first collaboration with another vocalist – Jade’s dream pop roots and catchy hooks move with the emotional depths of the track, capturing us through the tender and darker moments. “We made this track around COVID times, I sent her a DM and I honestly didn’t expect a reply, she ended up being open to working with me even though I had nothing out at the time. I sent over an idea that she vibed with and she sent back the hook that’s currently on the track. Once I heard that hook I basically ended up crafting the song around the vocal. For our first time working together it went super smooth; she’s talented as hell. I’d been a fan of her stuff for a while so it was cool to finally make something together.” The track is paired with a four part visualiser made by upcoming Sydney artist Don Kaiyote; the collaboration explores themes of young love, heartbreak and loneliness. “The most important part of this project was to make something that felt close to us – we wanted to capture beauty in something that was quite real and ordinary, something we’ve all felt before.” The video takes us through the journey of young love as a person of colour growing up in western society, diving into the complexities of the modern-day “situationship” and the feelings that revolve around that behind closed doors. Arky Waters is a Sydney based artist exploring his early love for indie/folk with the electronic textures of rave music. Starting in 2020,it began as an outlet from his usual work with alt-rock band ‘Silvers’, and soon blossomed into its own project as he found his feet in production. The songs act as a soundtrack to his life growing up in the suburbs of Australia, bridging the gap between indie/folk songwriting and the pulse of electronic music.

    • Flight Facilities release two-track EP, Lost Forever flight-facilities-2022-feature-oz-edm

Today, iconic Sydney duo Flight Facilities return to share a two-track EP, Lost Forever available now via Future Classic. As a pseudo-epilogue to their sophomore album FOREVER, both tracks represent the duo’s journey 12 months since its release. Having eclipsed the nation with their headline tour, alongside executing their own mammoth festival juggernaut, Airfields, that saw some of the brightest local and international acts perform to an open-air crowd, Hugo Gruzman and Jimmy Lyell now reveal and celebrate some of their favourite unreleased moments from the FOREVER era. First debuted during the duo’s pre-album NEVER FOREVER livestream, “Feel It” is a historic house heater starring a ceremonious arrangement of Flight Facilities synths that are warm, airy and arresting in unity. The coolly transposed beat and sampled vocals direct a clubbier mood before Owl Eyes delivers a melody of haunting beauty. The accompanying visualiser from Babekuhl pastiches a transfixing array of grainy 70s film footage of a child and his family. Flight Facilities fans will recognise that second track, “Planet Claire” has become a mainstay in the duo’s dynamic live shows. A dedication to an electronic great in their eyes, Booka Shade, the journeyed song is punctuated by evolving jabs of modular synths and analog rhythms. Layered with delicate and infectious complexity, the track receives a fitting visualiser from Babekuhl. Laced with neon green FF logos, a fast-moving rotation of shapes in kaleidoscopic form becomes hypnotic. Flight Facilities say on Lost Forever: “It’s already been 12 months since we released our last album. Several tracks were left on the cutting room floor of FOREVER, but it felt wrong to leave them unreleased. ‘Planet Claire’ has formed an integral part of our live show in the past 6-12 months, and it’s our little homage to a favourite artist, Booka Shade. ‘Feel It’ was one of the first demo’s we wrote after Down To Earth. We’ve sat on it for years, constantly updating and picking at it, eventually adding vocals from Owl Eyes. There’s a certain magic in this tune that captures the nostalgia of us messing around in the studio together.” Flight Facilities’ second studio album, FOREVER is the culminating result of many years of experimentation between the Sydney pair. Starring a string of 2021 releases, including “Lights Up” feat. Channel Tres, “Move” feat. DRAMA, club-ready cut “The Ghost”, and “Forever” feat. Broods, the record received praise and recognition from GQ, Rolling Stone, 10 Magazine, before being named Spotlight Album by triple j. The pair soon after hit the road for their FOREVER national tour, showcasing the record in the Australian live arena before travelling to America for an epic run of dates. Never to slow down, the pair next made their way to Europe for a series of dates and appearances across the summer season. Having come a long way from their 2010 singles “Crave You” feat. Giselle Rosselli and “Foreign Language”, Flight Facilities have sold more than 150,000 tickets and accumulated over a billion streams globally, and scored three ARIA nominations and gold certification for their debut album Down To Earth in 2014. The pair have seen eight Hottest 100 placings, an ARIA-Award for their 2015 live album Live With The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and enduring appreciation for consistently defying sonic trends in their feel-good, dance floor beckoning tunes that have seen them collaborate with superstars and blazing up-and-comers alike, including Aloe Blacc, Kylie Minogue and Reggie Watts. Consistently smashing goals, the pair featured in Apple’s iPhone 13 announcement advertisement with “Lights Up”. On the live stage, Flight Facilities have gained notoriety for bringing together the crowds of Coachella, Japan’s Fuji Rock, the UK’s Bestival, Sydney’s Field Day, and 2019’s Australian Open among many more. As Flight Facilities reflect on an incredible past 12 months, dive into the finale of their sophomore album with the duo’s Lost Forever EP, out now via Future Classic. • Get Set To ‘Fly Away’ With Dave Winnel’s Latest Dance Anthem dave-winnel-fly-away-2022-oz-edm-feature

Sydney’s own Dave Winnel has been going from strength to strength this year. With a string of singles under his belt, a scene-stealing triple j Like A Version, plus touring for Listen Out, there’s no slowing down for the DJ/producer. Now Dave Winnel releases his new single ‘Fly Away’. Co-written with KLP, ‘Fly Away’ combines super catchy vocals (from KLP also) with tribal rhythms, knocking drums and a prominent live trombone – all jammed with Dave’s signature production style. “KLP has always been on top of my ‘Artists I Want To Collab With list’,” explains Dave. “But I was always scared to actually hit her up to make it happen. Luckily though, she Shazamed one of my tunes off the radio and she hit me up instead. I sent her a very rough instrumental idea which featured the big synth horns and strings backed to the big tribal drums. She came back pretty fast with an epic vocal, adding a monster gang vocal chant over the groove and adding a huge thick layer of harmonies to the breaks. Because the vocal is so large and full of layers, I didn’t need to add many more instruments. I did however want to give the track a more organic and natural sound to it, so I had a trombone player, by the name of ’Trombonhero’, to re-record the trombone part. There’s something special about the articulation between each note when played by a real musician that you just can’t get out of a synth.” ‘Fly Away’ is not the first time Dave Winnel and KLP have worked together. KLP featured on Dave’s Like A Version earlier this year when he took on Toto’s undeniable classic ‘Africa’ and KLP also sang on Dave’s mash up of his original tracks ‘CEO’ & ‘Jungle Juice’. • Spencer Brown releases div003 EP – ‘Reforma / Polybomba’

Spencer Brown continues his string of impressive releases on his newly minted diviine label with ‘Reforma / Polybomba.’ The ominous ‘Reforma’ shows off Spencer’s darker production side with its brooding techno sounds (plus it’s paired with a remix from the iconic Weska). ‘Polybomba’ skews more towards the progressive indie-dance side of the house music spectrum and delivers on an ID Spencer’s fans have coveted for quite some time. A who’s who of the electronic music elite have been supporting spencer’s music in their sets including Adam Beyer, John Digweed, Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, and Ida Engberg, to name a few. “The third release on diviine showcases my darker side,” Spencer says. “‘Reforma’ is a groove tool that has been exploding in my sets. It was first debuted in Chicago, and the crowd reaction blew me away. The main sample along with the drum fill are both me playing the drums! ‘Polybomba is a progressive indie-dance leaning stomper. I opened my massive diviine inspirations show in San Francisco with this track, and it’s been a highly requested ID since then. Both tracks fit perfectly on diviine as “chill bangers” with creative freedom.” With regards to tapping Weska as a remixer for ‘Reforma’ Spencer adds “I’ve looked up to Weska as a producer for years. My most played track on Spotify in 2019 was Weska’s “EQ64.” During the pandemic, we became friends and worked on a few collaborative ideas (all unreleased at the moment). It’s truly an honor to have him as the first remixer ever on diviine with this killer roller.” “I’ve always looked up to Spencer as an artist, a DJ, and as a genuinely cool dude, so I was stoked when he asked me to give Reforma a spin. The original track is pretty percussive with a few melodic elements and a vocal sample, so I had a lot of creative freedom when writing it. The result is a deep, chugging, and slightly progressive groover that I hope you all will love to play,” Weska shares. • Alan Fitzpatrick Injects Nostalgia Into Peak-Time Techno Two-Tracker ‘Stronger / Chant’ alan-fitzpatrick-2022-oz-edm-feature

The UK-based veteran constructs a pair of nostalgia-laced techno weapons for his label debut on Factory 93. Southampton’s venerated producer Alan Fitzpatrick washes over with nostalgia on his new double-sided single ‘Stronger / Chant,’ serving as his label debut on the burgeoning Factory 93 imprint. A universally respected and in-demand producer, Alan Fitzpatrick has succeeded in carving out his own musical niche within the ever-expanding genre of techno, earning him the reputation of a seemingly unstoppable source of hit music. This ability is on full display on his debut appearance with Factory 93 Records, ‘Stronger / Chant.’ “Stronger” kicks off with hard and crispy drums before a well-timed backspin effect gives way to a piano-and breaks-combo that will transport clubbers back to 1992. As the kick comes barreling back in, chopped-up diva vocals soar through the mix before everything cuts out to unleash a flurry of rave stabs. The track absorbs all the best elements of classic rave into a peak-time techno mind-melter. “This track was born during the early lockdown stages of covid,” says Alan Fitzpatrick. “I was just reminiscing on the good old days and memories of early rave culture.” says Alan Fitzpatrick. “Nostalgia crept in a lot during this time, and I wanted to express that through the frustration of uncertainty around touring.” “Chant” is a more straight-ahead warehouse workout with its relentless beats and chunky low-end. Ethereal vocals and pads give the track an eerie tinge as it develops, with skittering hats and claps twisting through the mix to add to its driving intensity. “A nod to the tribal techno vibes of the ‘90s and early noughties; I really love the energy in this track, and I think it’s a great pairing with ‘Stronger’ due to the fact they are very different,” he adds. “Both are packed with energy and I’m excited to share them with the world.” Alan Fitzpatrick has been pushing the underground culture ever-forward for more than a decade and counting, and his debut release on Factory 93 honors his roots in the best way imaginable. Alan Fitzpatrick’s new release ‘Stronger / Chant’ is available on all platforms via Factory 93 Records.
