Australian DJ Hot Dub Time Machine had thousands of fans tune in for his Hot Dub At Home livestream on Saturday night, raising over $60,000 for Lifeline in the process! The livestream event kicked off Mental Health Month with a theme of ‘I Feel Good!’ and focused on positive vibes and uplifting music, while at the same time raising money ($63,814 to be exact) for Lifeline, which exists to ensure no Australian has to face their darkest moments alone.
On the amazing result, Hot Dub Time Machine (aka Sydney’s Lom Lowndes) said, “I’m really thrilled to have raised so much money for Lifeline. It’s a fitting finale to the Hot Dub At Home streams which have done so much for my own mental health and for a huge amount of locked down Australians over the past 18 months. We had over 8,000 unique viewers during the two hour stream, so to raise almost $65,000 shows the incredible generosity of the Hot Dub community.
Since first launching his time-travelling, ‘dance-through-the-decades’ audio-visual party concept in 2011, Sydney’s Tom Lowndes has grown his Hot Dub Time Machine project into an absolute monster. The key success of Hot Dub’s show is hinged on its widespread appeal – Hot Dub showcases songs from every decade and genre of music – ‘60s rock, ‘70s disco, ‘80s classics, ‘90s house, noughties electro, today’s hits – and winds and weaves it into one expansive, electrifying, music history lesson. Each song is played in chronological order – mixed live on turntables – and complemented with archival concert footage / music videos on massive screens, led by Hot Dub’s own rapturous MCing and hugely animated antics. Pivoting to Hot Dub at Home events during the pandemic, Hot Dub has been hosting free livestreamed events regularly, with over 10,000 people tuning in to his Hot Dub: RAVE special in September.
