Skrillex is releasing a double album in 2023, which is sure to make a big impact in the dance music world.
On New Year’s Day, Skrillex, whose real name is Sonny Moore, posted an announcement on social media about the release of two albums, abbreviated as “QFF/DGTC 23,” in 2023. The next day, he shared a preview of the project’s first single, titled “Rumble,” a collaboration with Fred again.. and Flowdan. The single has a tense and ominous sound.
The announcement of the album release was met with great excitement from the electronic music community. Tchami wrote, “2023 looking great already,” and other bass artists such as Subtronics, Ray Volpe, Peekaboo, and tk expressed their excitement with exclamatory phrases like “HYPERVENTILATING,” “H O L Y S H I T B A L L S,” and “i’m f—ing WEEPING.” Missy Elliot, who previously collaborated with Skrillex on an unreleased track in 2018, also expressed her excitement.
These albums will be Skrillex‘s first studio albums since the release of “Recess” in 2014, which reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart. Skrillex has continued to have success in the music industry, winning two Grammys with Diplo as part of their duo, Jack Ü, in 2016. Diplo has described Skrillex as “probably the best producer of electronic music” he has ever met and praised his ability to transform any sound into something unique.
