    • Moss Has Heart-Melting Bass On ‘Speed Dial’ In Latest Release With BRIA moss-speed-dial-oz-edm-feature-2021

Australia’s rising star Moss returns with a heavy-hitting follow up to ‘SABRE TEETH’, releasing ‘SPEED DIAL (feat. BRIA)’ via October Records. After making a splash with his triple j Unearthed DIY Supergroup winning track, Moss picks up where ‘SABRE TEETH (feat. Genesis Owusu)’ left off, introducing the single with subtle didgeridoo vibrations before the foot is pressed down on the sonic gas pedal. The Indigenous producer’s aptitude for utilising dynamic drums and powerful bass to evoke atmospheric and emotive narratives is on full display. He teams with Brisbane-based up-and-coming singer/songwriter BRIA who’s pertinent vocals centred around the uncertainty and instability of online dating, provide the perfect hook. Moss discusses the single and the direction of his sound saying, “I’ve teamed up on this record with powerhouse singer/ songwriter BRIA and we’ve built something very special. SPEED DIAL is the sonic infusion of the ups and downs of online dating – especially when they don’t text back. This single represents a development of my sound and I can’t wait for you to hear it. All gas, no brakes.” On the narrative behind the record, BRIA said, “The idea for SPEED DIAL came out of the 2020 Brisbane COVID lockdown. After everyone was exclusively online dating, I found hookup culture was more present than ever. Moss’ dramatic production was the perfect accompaniment for my narrator’s situationship.” Brisbane talent BRIA, who amassed a sizable online following across TikTok and Instagram, recently released her debut single ‘Taking It Off’. The track has seen airplay on triple j and acclaim from Declan Byrne, Tommy Faith, Abby Butler, and Dave Ruby Howe on triple j Unearthed. Embracing femininity and sensuality within her craft, she takes influences from the likes of Charli XCX, Lorde, and Caroline Polachek. Sydney-based producer, Moss rose to prominence earlier this year after taking out the triple j Unearthed DIY Supergroup competition, with his release ‘SABRE TEETH’, before announcing his signing to October Records. Sampling the likes of Alison Wonderland, Touch Sensitive, San Cisco, Vallis Alps, and Genesis Owusu, the latter of which jumped on as a feature artist, Moss crafted a very Australian moment, yet it was his iconic didgeridoo bass drop that impressed triple j presenters and listeners alike. The track went on to become one of the most played on the station, with Moss appearing on triple j’s Friday Mix, and Mix Up as part of NAIDOC week, while the single’s momentum carried it to the top of the Australian Shazam Chart. While ‘SABRE TEETH’ showcased Moss’ talent to a wider audience, the bass producer has been honing his craft with singles such as ‘From The Start’ and ‘Shimmer’ both of which premiered on triple j and rose the triple j Unearthed Electronic charts. Having already played alongside some of the heaviest hitters in the industry – Skrillex, RL Grime, Flosstradamus, Marshmello, just to name a few – Moss has positioned himself as a producer capable of rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s best.

    • Moss Unleashes ‘SABRE TEETH’ featuring Genesis Owusu moss-from-the-start-2020-feature-oz-edm

Fresh off being crowned champion of triple j Unearthed’s 2021 DIY Supergroup, Brisbane-based, Indigenous producer Moss officially releases ‘SABRE TEETH (feat. Genesis Owusu)’ and announces his signing to October Records. Impressing peers alike, the highly anticipated release captured the attention of the triple j audience from the first listen, with Genesis Owusu coming on board as an official feature artist. The bass-heavy single utilises samples from Touch Sensitive, San Cisco, Vallis Alps, Alison Wonderland, and the hard-hitting intensive vocals of Genesis Owusu, combining them with intensive breakdowns and a distinctive didgeridoo-infused bass drop. Moss elevates the defiant raps of Genesis Owusu, leaning into his Indigenous heritage for a dramatic production that finds its home on October Records. On the response to ‘SABRE TEETH’, Moss said, “The response to SABRE TEETH so far has been mind blowing. From the triple j text line to Instagram comments, everyone has shown such love for the track. Genesis Owusu’s vocals hit with such a powerful message and I wanted to connect that with my Indigenous heritage. I’m so glad everyone who’s listening is also connecting with that too.” Moss has combined his flair for emotive production and his passion for storytelling with the release of ‘SABRE TEETH’’, which received critical acclaim among many in the industry. triple j Breakfast presenter Ebony Boadu said, “This is easily the sickest drop I’ve heard this year.” While the upload on Unearthed received high praise from the likes of Lucy Smith, Dave Ruby Howe, Declan Byrne, and many more. The track has quickly become one of the most played on the station, while also receiving online support from the likes of NME and The Music Network. Beyond ‘Sabre Teeth’ his debut single ‘Lullabye’ surpassed 200,000 streams in its first month, following up with ‘idek’ which was supported by some of the industry’s finest including Marshmello, Yellow Claw, Jauz, Ghastly, and Zeds Dead among others. His recent discography in the form of ‘From The Start (feat. Kember Gold)’ and ‘Shimmer’ both received airplay on triple j, and also made their way to the top of the triple j Unearthed Electronic charts. In a few short years, Moss has already played alongside some of the world’s biggest artists that have had a great impact on Moss’ own artistry, the likes of Skrillex, RL Grime, Flosstradamus, Baauer, and Nero. Moss is far from an overnight success, but if this short warm-up is anything to go by, Moss’ name will be embedded on the world’s stage in years to come. Moss releases ‘SABRE TEETH (feat. Genesis Owusu)’ via October Records.

Already showcasing the light and shade across their 2021 releases as the forthcoming album title ‘Dichotomy’ so aptly suggests, Perth duo SLUMBERJACK share their latest blend of dark pop ‘Not For You’. For the release, the pair have teamed up Sydney’s own Nicole Millar – the talented singer-songwriter who has become one of the most sought after topliners after breaking through on Peking Duk’s record ‘High’, before going on to have an incredible solo career, with her debut LP ‘Excuse Me’ featuring a string of hit singles including ‘Tremble’, ‘Blindfolded’, and ‘Signals’. The new single perfectly complements each of the artist’s individual styles, whilst coming together to create a  seamless and magnetic component of the wider debut album due later this year. Detailing the contrast in their own style, the duo share, “For us, this song is all about that moment, right at the start of the chorus, where it feels like you’ve just executed the perfect double bounce on a trampoline and you’re absolutely floating. Definitely our bounciest record to date – which fits perfectly in the Dichotomy of the album, we wanted to explore both ends of the spectrum and you can’t have the darker stuff without the fun and playful records. Nicole also was incredible on this one, we went back and forth on so many amazing versions of the song but we felt like we nailed the one that made the final recording!”  Speaking on the opportunity to finally collaborate, Nicole shares “The boys and I have been friends for years and I’ve always been a big fan of their music. I had written a rough idea in LA a while ago and it had just been sitting on my laptop. I sent the idea to the boys and they fell in love, after working back and forth together they just really turned this song into something special. British singer-songwriter Aluna returns today with her new single ‘Forget About Me,’ a collaboration with Diplo and Italian producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist Durante, offering fans a taste of what’s to come from Aluna in 2022. The track was co-produced by Aluna, Diplo and Durante. Speaking about the new track, Aluna reveals, “This song is about that moment when you’ve cleaned up the trash pile that was once your heart –you’re feeling yourself and you’ve worked out how to be alone but the past comes back to haunt you, hungry for your new self love and abundant vibes. Those are the moments you have to stay strong and really forget about your old love so that new fresh love can waltz into your life. When the one that got away comes back…what you gonna do? That’s not what I call destiny, you deserve better.” ‘Forget About Me,’ arrives with an official music video, directed by Reggie, who previously directed Aluna’s videos for ‘Don’t Hit My Line,’ and ‘The Recipe’ with KAYTRANADA feat. Rema. Talking about the video, Aluna explains, “The music video for ‘Forget About Me’ is an exploration of how to skip to that ‘new you’ feeling after a break up instead of all the drama we go through before we feel better. I wanted to play with the idea of a futuristic game where if you win all is forgotten and you get to move on, easy as that…..I think someone needs to invent it for real though.” ‘Forget About Me’ serves as the follow-up to Aluna’s recent single ‘Summer of Love,’ co-produced by Aluna and Punctual and released last summer via Mad Decent’s house music imprint Higher Ground. Originally getting her start as one half of the beloved duo AlunaGeorge, she has now gained attention as a solo artist while releasing her debut album Renaissance in 2020 (LISTEN) via Mad Decent, which Alunaco-produced alongside executive producer Lido, featuring contributions from Princess Nokia, Jada Kingdom, SG Lewis, KAYTRANADA, Scott Storch, GRADES, Mr. Carmack and Rema. Renaissance represents the culmination of her journey of “a black girl in an all-white British suburb back in the day” to launching a rule-breaking revolution where rigid boundaries dissolve between culture, race, gender, and genre. Last fall, Aluna announced Noir Fever, a new festival in partnership with leading technology company Pollen Presents, set to take place May 27-30, 2022, in New Orleans. The all-Black lineup showcases multiple generations of boundary-pushing artists who continue to pioneer the genre, while also shining a light on LGTBQ+ performers as well. Aluna will be joined by Haitian-Canadian artist KAYTRANADA, Compton vocalist and producer Channel Tres, Canadian-born house act and Ninja Tune icon Jayda G, rapidly emerging London talent TSHA, Chicago house music legend Derrick Carter, and Detroit techno hero Kevin Saunderson, as well as South Los Angeles rapper and songwriter Duckwrth, the acclaimed Harlem beatmaker Austin Millz, Chicago producer and vocalist known for high-profile collaborations in the hip-hop and dance world NEZ, self-proclaimed Jersey club queen UNIIQU3, one of dance music’s favorite vocalists Kaleena Zanders, East Coast singer, songwriter, DJ, and model MAAD, Toronto DJ and producer Bambii, the Jamaican-born New York-based artist Tygapaw, and more to be added ahead of the experience. Throughout the experience, guests will get the chance to take part in late-night warehouse parties and raves, a speaker series with keynote talks, workshops, a marketplace for innovative Black-owned brands, and much more to be announced. Speaking on Noir Fever New Orleans, Aluna states that: “This unique experience of honoring dance music’s heritage and getting a taste of what’s to come will reignite a much-needed connection back to what dance music is about –creating a place where people from all different communities can come together and dance their hearts out while feeling free to be themselves.”

    • Krewella Return With New Single “Never Been Hurt” krewella-never-been-hurt-2021-oz-edm

The ladies of Krewella make a strong return to the scene with their new original release – “Never Been Hurt,” in collaboration with the Asian-American duo BEAUZ. The sisters take an exploratory approach to their traditionally hard-hitting sound with a pop and deep house style on the track, which begins with a groovy and yet grimy bassline reminiscent of UK garage sounds. The subtler melodies let the song’s vocals shine through as Krewella brings their A-game with sultry lyrics and a distorted vocal chorus. Krewella’s previous independent single was “Rewind” with Yellow Claw in July of 2020, though they also collaborated with Illenium and SLANDER on “Lay It Down” as a part of Illenium’s album. The release of “Never Been Hurt” lets us also assume that more new music will be released in the coming months. Check out what both artists have to say about this emotive, late-night friendly track: “The inspiration of ‘Never Been Hurt’ comes from the feeling of the body and heart slowly opening its doors again after being calloused by the pain of love. Surrendering to intimacy is a leap of faith, and in a way, memories of past loss or trauma become erased when we are ready to experience love again in its pure innocence. We wrote the song a few years ago and have been waiting for the right vibe to bring the song to the finish line. As sisters, we found it sweet to be collaborating with brothers Bernie and Johan Yang, and despite being confined to the internet during the pandemic, we managed to have a seamless flow of sending versions of the song back and forth.” – Krewella “Krewella has been one of our favorite artists that were responsible for inspiring us to make music. It’s so cool to work with the sisters since we are a brother duo. When we received ‘Never Been Hurt’ from the girls, its dark and contemporary style, along with its story, immediately resonated with us. After several back and forths, we were able to come up with an edgy vocal chop lead complemented by an infectious bassline, as well as contributing our own vocals into this dream collaboration. We absolutely can’t wait to perform this gem along with the girls on stage when we return to the US.” – Beauz Sisters Jahan and Yasmine exploded onto the scene in 2012 with their debut self-released EP “Play Hard,” which has now been streamed almost 150M times on Spotify alone; additionally, their single “Alive” from the EP has been certified Platinum. Since then, the duo has made a name for themselves and their hard-hitting yet melodic and vocal-driven sound through releases like “Live for the Night,” “Enjoy the Ride,” and more. In 2016, Krewella was awarded a coveted place on Forbes’s “30 Under 30” list. They have performed at major global music festivals, including Coachella, Lollapalooza, EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Music Festival, iHeartRadio Music Festival, and many others, in addition to their own headlining tours. As one of the main elements of the Krewella canon, the group’s onstage performances serve as the live extension of their music and art. Incorporating a multitude of audiovisual elements together with Jahan and Yasmine’s live vocals and powerful onstage energy. American duo BEAUZ composed of Bernie and Johan is a group of versatile, classy rockstars who decide their own destiny. Proving themselves to be virtuosos of music production, they quickly caught attention from top power players in the industry, landing them multiple official remixes. Most notably, their “Happy Now” remix has become a staple in Zedd’s DJ sets. In 2019, BEAUZ released the genre-bending Count The Hours with Armada, which became viral on Douyin and kicked off the duo’s first international tour spanning across North America and Asia. BEAUZ then collaborated with Spinnin’ Records to release Feel The Light as the first record on the new imprint Spinnin’ Asia, positioning the duo as the godfathers of Psypop. In 2020, BEAUZ hosted the avant-garde Blockeley festival featuring a star-studded lineup on Minecraft in collaboration with UC Berkeley and their management, KEYTEM. They released their first EP “BEAUZWORLD Vol. 1,” kicking off the BEAUZ IMPERIAL TOUR, stunting the world as the only international artists to deliver world class performances during the pandemic. Synonymous with a unique music brand and eluding an impeccable flair in everything they do, BEAUZ will not stop until they sit on the throne.

    • Vintage Culture and James Hype Unveil “You Give Me a Feeling” vintage-culture-james-hype-oz-edm

Globetrotting DJs, Brazil’s Vintage Culture and UK’s James Hype join forces for their first-ever collab. Vintage Culture and James Hype are teaming up to lay claim to being the dancefloors favourite with their bouncing, housey, club focussed single, “You Give Me a Feeling,” serving as their debut appearance on Insomniac Records. With thousands of miles sitting between them, two of the most in-demand dance exports are closing the geographical gap from their respective origins by way of a temperature raising cross-continental collab. The beloved Brazilian iconoclast Vintage Culture is met halfway by breakout UK sensation James Hype, as they come together to concoct an irrepressible potion of sublime tech house. Bold and full-bodied, “You Give Me a Feeling” takes its claim as a true masterclass in club seduction. A sultry, pitched-down vocal hook presses those primitive buttons ever-so gently, while slinky rhythms and beefy basslines work their magic to bring uncontrollable urges to the surface. Crisp drum programming and stripped-down sensibilities keep the temperature rising through the roof. Once the club-pleasing record settles into its full stride, Vintage Culture and James Hype effectively turn those deep-seated desires into an endorphin-riddled climax that will leave listeners suspended in a dazed state of stimulation long after the concluding beat finishes the job. The multi-platinum hitmaker Vintage Culture, née Lukas Ruiz, has made himself comfortable at the top of charts and festival lineups the world over. His uncanny ability to coalesce ear-burrowing hooks with pulse-raising grooves carries over to create a universal appeal that translates on the decks just as much as it works for at-home streaming. The proof is in the numbers, as evidenced by the more than 2 billion streams he’s generated globally from standout tracks such as his smash single “It Is What It Is” featuring Elise LeGrow, the artisanal collab “Coffee” with Tiësto, as well as his far-flung remixes for Meduza, Diplo, David Guetta, and Moby. His dexterity inside the DJ booth is an animal all on its own, which attendees of this year’s EDC Las Vegas were thrilled to experience first-hand during his sun-kissed opening ceremony back-to-back set alongside Solardo, which was an added bonus to his closing solo main-stage performance at kineticFIELD. Rapidly becoming the DJ’s DJ, and globally recognised hitmaker, London-based James Hype has built up a buzz that has lived up to the definition of the latter half of the moniker he’s adopted. With a reputation preceding his every move on the worldwide circuit, James Hype has positioned himself as a must-see spectacle due to his technical transitions, one-of-a-kind bootlegs, ear-pricking mashups, and a crate-digging inclination only few can match. Those skills have led to a hectic touring schedule with stops at O2 Arena (London), Echo Arena (Liverpool), MEN Arena (Manchester), SSE Wembley (London), as well as gigs in Ibiza, Australia, Dubai, the US and beyond. His tastefully executed remixes have roped him into the inner circle of international heavyweights, having been commissioned by Bruno Mars, Meduza, Imanbek, Icona Pop, and Rita Ora. However, his original creations made him into a certified sensation in his own right, with the platinum “More Than Friends” and the HARLEE-assisted “Afraid” breaking into regular rotation on BBC Radio1, Capital Dance, and KISS100. “You Give Me a Feeling” not only finds common ground between the colossal chart-toppers, Vintage Culture and James Hype, but the effusive collab will permanently attach itself to our collective pleasure point the second it hits shelves today!

Following on from his release ‘Love Track’ earlier in the year, POOLCLVB once again teams up with co-writer Nicky Night Time for ‘Runaway’. Featuring Brisbane-based indie-electronic producer Güs on vocals, ‘Runaway’ tells a sonic narrative of finding space and letting go and drops September 17th on etcetc. POOLCLVB explains how ‘Runaway’ came about: “Runaway took shape during a period of creative change and personal development. Amidst all this uncertainty, I was learning to find solace in solitude, and with this came deep reflection. I connected with Güs on the Gold Coast once Covid travel restrictions lifted, and he played me this vocal demo that I instantly connected with. As with many things in life, we can sometimes carry with us the frayed strings of previous relationships, Runaway is a song about space and ultimately letting go…”   Güs adds, “I was super lucky to meet Danny (POOLCLVB) through a mutual mastering engineer of ours who I had used for one of my previous tracks. He put the two of us in touch and it has been the most organic process ever since – I couldn’t have asked for anything more. It was super interesting to also have Nicky Night Time onboard for this one and this track definitely highlights what artists these days can do from afar”.
