10 Acts You Can’t Miss At Stereosonic 2014

With the annual Stereosonic festival fast approaching, we have assembled a list of 10 acts you can’t afford to miss.

Whether you consider headliners a no-brainer or a no-go, we’ve sifted through the mammoth lineup to not only help ease the strains of decision-making, but make sure you’ll be dancing in your shoes too.

RL Grime

Henry Steinway is one of the most talented electronic music producers in the industry, most known for his work as Clockwork, the producer will once again be throwing down incredibly crisp trap under his alias; RL Grime. Often mixing trap with underground hip-hop, RL Grime hits crowds with surprises throughout each set, so expect a few unheard and unidentified tunes.

Ilan Bluestone

Trance fans rejoice as the Anjunabeats rising star, Ilan Bluestone will be hitting our shores this year. The London-based producer has had enormous success with a flurry of big-hit singles including “Spheres,” “Sinai” and “Under My Skin” as well as remixes for Lana Del Rey and The Presets.

If you’re in need of roaring synths, beautiful breakdowns and thick, uplifting melodies then Ilan Bluestone will certainly deliver. Expect to see a large turnout for this Beatport chart master.

Still in his early 20s, Nick Boundy aka M4SONIC has quickly proven to be the master of the Launchpad, building a huge fan base with over 168,000 fans on Facebook and more than 20,000,000 views on YouTube.

Discovering the Launchpad when he read Deadmau5’s infamous opinions that DJing is all about smoke and mirrors, Nick quickly mastered a new form of live mixing which send the electronic dance music industry into a frenzie. With sets that touch on the bass and complextro side of the EDM spectrum, expect a highly energetic set and quite a large turnout.

Oliver Heldens

2014 has been quite the year for Dutch producer Oliver Heldens, not only production wise but also in touring. Beatport charts have been flooded with the numerous high-quality blend of big-room electro-house and modern deep house; and things continuing to heat up.

At only 18, the rising star has seen support from the biggest acts in the world including Tiesto, Calvin Harris, Laidback Luke, Dillon Francis and Kaskade to name a few. Expect a big crowd as his performance is one of the most hyped of Stereosonic 2014.

Dubbed as one of the top drum and bass acts in the world, Wilkinson is set to get the party started this summer at Stereosonic. Fresh off the Northern summer with appearances at Global Gathering, Bestival and EDC Las Vegas, expect a mix of aggressive beats and old school takes on drum and bass.

Following on from the massive success of Lasers Not Included, Wilkinson has kept busy by putting out remix package after remix package. With DnB hits like “Take You Higher,” “Tonight,” and “Need To Know” already tucked away safely into his back pocket, we can’t wait to see what he has to offer the Australian crowds.

For those of you who are unaware, Destructo is Gary Richards. Yes, the founder of HARD. You’d be doing yourself a disservice by not checking him out because he is much more than just a CEO/promoter. Destructo is not only a fantastic DJ/producer, he has a very unique, eclectic, and dark sound that will just make you want to dance your ass off.

Destructo does a great job of blending several genres in his sets in the funkiest way and really knows how to get a crowd going. There is no better way to say thank you for the HARD arena than watching him at his own show. He’ll kill it like always.

Hot Since 82

Hot Since 82 will have Stereosonic crowds dripping in sweat after his fire-filled sets. His distinct basslines and techno influences inspire a head-down, feet-shuffling groove that few others DJs can match. Expected to draw a large crowd, Hot Since 82 will deliver the best vibe in the deep end. If that’s what you’re into, then Hot Since 82 is your ticket.

Porter Robinson Live

American producer Porter Robinson is set to bring his new Worlds ‘Live’ tour to Australia this November/December. Set to feature a very different style and sound, his performances will encompass a multi-tracked, keyboard and sample-triggering setup.

You can expect to primarily hear his new album Worlds, as well as a few classics from the earlier, Unison days.

New World Punx

Joining forces for their debut Australian tour together as New World Punx, Ferry Corsten and Markus Schulz are set to deliver the goods this year in the Full On arena.

With notable performances at Miami’s Ultra Music Fesitval, the A State Of Trance 650 world tour, Electric Daisy Carnival and more, the super duo will bring the big room trance sound in plenty. Not only will Ferry Corsten and Markus Schulz be playing together as NWP, but they will also be performing their own individual sets.

Since his Headhunterz alias inception in 2005, Willem is noted as the first Hardstyle artist to enter into the DJ Mag Top 100 as well as continue to innovate the hard dance scene. With a series of acclaimed main stage performances, three albums, several chart topping anthems and remixes, Headhunterz is sure to raise the level up a few notches.
