There is no doubt that Avicii’s debut artist album True broadened horizons for dance music and established him as an influence for sounds that the genre hadn’t yet explored.
With just a few months shy of his it’s first anniversary, the Swedish producer is currently juggling shows all across the world while still remaining hard at work in the studio for his next album.
The Swedish melody king known as Tim Bergling or his stage name, Avicii has already demonstrated a new direction for his upcoming catalogue with his unexpected but well received collaboration “A Sky Full of Stars” with Coldplay.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Avicii revealed several other unlikely partnerships to come on his followup album, including appearances from none other than Jon Bon Jovi, Serj Tankian of System of a Down and Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day.
Despite his direction is almost the opposite of many EDM names and sounds, Avicii is confident in his new direction. His still untitled album will be “more song-oriented,” and has yet to be cut from over 70 tracks that the producer continues to work on.
Stay tuned for more news on the upcoming album and listen to his recent collaboration with Coldplay below.
