Legendary UK Dance act Faithless announce their first new album in ten years, ‘All Blessed’, released on BMG on 23 October. The first single to be taken from ‘All Blessed’, the uplifting Balearic ‘Synthesizer’ is released on 28 August and follows the immaculate ‘This Feeling’ ft. Suli Breaks & Nathan Ball.

On their manifesto for ‘All Blessed’, Faithless said “In this troubled and increasingly violent world, lyrically the album tries to reflect what has always been the Faithless manifesto: be conscious, be caring, love yourself so you can love others and understand who you are and where you are never polemical but hopefully intelligent and (occasionally!) inspirational – this is music with feeling and words with meaning.”

Presenting an exciting taster for ‘All Blessed’, with ‘Synthesizer’ Faithless delve into a profusion of expressive synths and stripped-back, grooving undertones to deliver a blissfully euphoric anthem. ‘Synthesizer’ kicks off with a grooving house inspired backbeat with a motivating synth rhythm that holds the centre ground for much of the track. Its loopy hypnotism provides a poignant anchoring for the vocal lead that heads up the track once again by the super talented Nathan Ball. As the vocal shapes up, realms of cascading synth arpeggios become a reflection of the track’s lyrics. Building up towards a vast crescendo that paves way for a super grooving bassline while the steady backbeat opens up with widening hi-hats and punchy claps.

Also released on 28 August, the video for ’Synthesizer’ is a brilliant Metropolis-inspired visual treat Directed by Strangeloop and Produced by [namethemachine]. Set in a dystopian futuristic world in which skyscrapers are comprised of speaker towers and synthesizers, the unforgettable video depicts an army of robotic workers whose brains are connected by glowing, pulsating cables to power their queen who looms large over the city. But it all goes wrong…

On ‘Synthesizer’ Faithless said“This is the track that got us thinking of doing a new album in the first place. A love letter to what we do and the music we make and also a little social commentary on our obsession with technology, musically all rolled into a big bold warm Faithless-y anthem. Inspired by Trevor Horn, Sparks, Jean-Michel Jarre and our own back catalogue!”

Previous single ‘This Feeling’ received strong DJ support, including from Pete Tong who made it the ‘Essential New Tune’ on his BBC Radio 1 show, plus Annie Mac, Robbie Rivera, Judge Jules, Tom Novy, Mousse T, Spiller, Kryder, and DJ T.

In a history that stretches back some 25 yearsFaithless have long occupied a pivotal position in the world of British electronica. Marrying elements of house, trip-hop, dub and a songwriting flair into arena-filling explosive, euphoric sounds. Their accomplishments tell their own story: seven Top 10 singlessix Top 10 albums (three at Number 1), a Mercury Prize nomination for their brilliant sophomore album, 1998’s ‘Sunday 8PM’ and their impressive four times Platinum certified ‘Forever Faithless – The Greatest Hits’ adding to a career total in excess of 15 million worldwide.

Faithless have graced festival stages the world over, including Glastonbury’s famous Pyramid Stage twice. Globally, they’ve sold out multiple arena runs.

It has been ten years since Faithless’ last studio album ‘The Dance’ entered the charts in 2010 at Number 2, yet their music continues to be discovered through international DJ sets and the rise of streaming services. Their 2015 remix album ‘Faithless 2.0’ took them back to the top of the charts yet again with their friends the likes of Avicii, Claptone, Tiesto, Eric Prydz and Armin Van Buuren coming forward to offer fresh perspectives on their fan favourites, ‘We Come 1’‘Insomnia’‘God is a DJ’ and more. Collaborations have always the hallmark of Faithless’ career, working with Robert Smith of The CureDido and Cat Power to name but a few.

Secret Sounds are delighted to announce that American synthwave band The Midnight will make their return to Australia in February/March 2024, setting stages on fire with headline performances in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne. From their synth-heavy beginnings to arena rock chords and infectious pop hooks, The Midnight’s musical journey is one fuelled by insatiable curiosity. The duo lives at the intersection of varying paths, driven by the friction that fires when Southern-born singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle’s all-American dreamer tales meld with Danish-bred drummer and producer Tim McEwan’s cinematic soundscapes. Together, they form something deeper than house, vibier than pop, and altogether more exciting than the sum of its parts. The fan favourite track “WeMoveForward” from their 2014 debut EP Days of Thunder, was created during their very first encounter. The single’s euphoric rhythms, bittersweet synths and Lyle’s romantic lyricism lay the foundation for The Midnight’s signature style, a theme that continued all the way into their latest album Heroes. Infused with dramatic nostalgic streaks, The Midnight’s catalogue weaves its way from their debut LP Endless Summer, with its retro-futuristic feel, to the introspective reflections found in their follow-up record Kids. As they delved deeper into their emotions with the release of their fourth album, Monsters in 2020, their sound expanded and became more vibrant, reaching the Top 30 on the Australian pop charts and No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Created during the isolation of the COVID quarantine, their most recent release Heroes tackled the issue of loneliness by inviting the whole world to dance under one roof, celebrating shared human connection. Infused with slivers of Springsteen, The Police, AC/DC and an electrifying arena rock spirit, Heroes weaves together a fusion of sexy-but-sensitive sing-alongs made to be belted by a room full of music lovers. With the new album, the duo has hit new heights on stage, moving on from club rooms to selling out iconic venues such as London’s Brixton Academy. They have also expanded their live performance by welcoming Lelia Broussard on bass, Royce Whittaker on guitar, and Justin Klunk on saxophone and synth. The Midnight are ready to unleash their live set for fans around Australia next February/March! Presale is available from 9am local time Thursday 21 September. Tickets go on sale to the general public from 9am local time Friday 22 September. • Kevin Silvester releases new single ‘Be The One’ KEVIN-SILVESTER-oz-edm-2023-feature

Kevin Silvester and JVCQUI Come Together For Their Huge Pop Release ‘Be The One’. Melbourne-based dance-pop artist Kevin Silvester returns with a new heart-wrenching single ‘Be The One’. The fourth single from Silvester’s upcoming debut album “Sleepwalker” is a collaboration with fellow Melbourne-based Pop and R&B singer/songwriter JVCQUI. The song is accompanied by a laceratingly emotional music video that tells the story of a toxic relationship through dramatic neon-metropolitan visuals. This song integrates multiple genres to express the core emotions of hatred and longing. Silvester enchants and lures you into a forest of melodies, only to cast you into an electric confrontation of vocals matched with a punchy bass line and a triplet-swing drum beat. The ethereal vocal performance by JVCQUI displays her longing and highlights the back and forth between Silvester and herself, painting the picture of a couple fighting, leaving listeners with empathy for JVCQUI as she pleads for validation. In July 2021, the song was born from a conversation between the two: they became friends after chatting about kinks at a local RSL. Written right before Melbourne’s lockdown, the finishing touches were completed over a phone call. Listeners are treated to an explosive chorus of gang vocals by the pair imitating signature celebrity voices – Britney Spears, Olivia Rodrigo and Momo from TWICE.

    • Flight Facilities release two-track EP, Lost Forever flight-facilities-2022-feature-oz-edm

Today, iconic Sydney duo Flight Facilities return to share a two-track EP, Lost Forever available now via Future Classic. As a pseudo-epilogue to their sophomore album FOREVER, both tracks represent the duo’s journey 12 months since its release. Having eclipsed the nation with their headline tour, alongside executing their own mammoth festival juggernaut, Airfields, that saw some of the brightest local and international acts perform to an open-air crowd, Hugo Gruzman and Jimmy Lyell now reveal and celebrate some of their favourite unreleased moments from the FOREVER era. First debuted during the duo’s pre-album NEVER FOREVER livestream, “Feel It” is a historic house heater starring a ceremonious arrangement of Flight Facilities synths that are warm, airy and arresting in unity. The coolly transposed beat and sampled vocals direct a clubbier mood before Owl Eyes delivers a melody of haunting beauty. The accompanying visualiser from Babekuhl pastiches a transfixing array of grainy 70s film footage of a child and his family. Flight Facilities fans will recognise that second track, “Planet Claire” has become a mainstay in the duo’s dynamic live shows. A dedication to an electronic great in their eyes, Booka Shade, the journeyed song is punctuated by evolving jabs of modular synths and analog rhythms. Layered with delicate and infectious complexity, the track receives a fitting visualiser from Babekuhl. Laced with neon green FF logos, a fast-moving rotation of shapes in kaleidoscopic form becomes hypnotic. Flight Facilities say on Lost Forever: “It’s already been 12 months since we released our last album. Several tracks were left on the cutting room floor of FOREVER, but it felt wrong to leave them unreleased. ‘Planet Claire’ has formed an integral part of our live show in the past 6-12 months, and it’s our little homage to a favourite artist, Booka Shade. ‘Feel It’ was one of the first demo’s we wrote after Down To Earth. We’ve sat on it for years, constantly updating and picking at it, eventually adding vocals from Owl Eyes. There’s a certain magic in this tune that captures the nostalgia of us messing around in the studio together.” Flight Facilities’ second studio album, FOREVER is the culminating result of many years of experimentation between the Sydney pair. Starring a string of 2021 releases, including “Lights Up” feat. Channel Tres, “Move” feat. DRAMA, club-ready cut “The Ghost”, and “Forever” feat. Broods, the record received praise and recognition from GQ, Rolling Stone, 10 Magazine, before being named Spotlight Album by triple j. The pair soon after hit the road for their FOREVER national tour, showcasing the record in the Australian live arena before travelling to America for an epic run of dates. Never to slow down, the pair next made their way to Europe for a series of dates and appearances across the summer season. Having come a long way from their 2010 singles “Crave You” feat. Giselle Rosselli and “Foreign Language”, Flight Facilities have sold more than 150,000 tickets and accumulated over a billion streams globally, and scored three ARIA nominations and gold certification for their debut album Down To Earth in 2014. The pair have seen eight Hottest 100 placings, an ARIA-Award for their 2015 live album Live With The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and enduring appreciation for consistently defying sonic trends in their feel-good, dance floor beckoning tunes that have seen them collaborate with superstars and blazing up-and-comers alike, including Aloe Blacc, Kylie Minogue and Reggie Watts. Consistently smashing goals, the pair featured in Apple’s iPhone 13 announcement advertisement with “Lights Up”. On the live stage, Flight Facilities have gained notoriety for bringing together the crowds of Coachella, Japan’s Fuji Rock, the UK’s Bestival, Sydney’s Field Day, and 2019’s Australian Open among many more. As Flight Facilities reflect on an incredible past 12 months, dive into the finale of their sophomore album with the duo’s Lost Forever EP, out now via Future Classic.
