Hypersonic, Australia’s Next Major Dance Music Festival.
Australia is set to welcome a brand-new festival to its summer calendar, with Hypersonic making its debut this November. Produced by Symbiotic, one of the country’s leading electronic music event companies, Hypersonic is being billed as a “groundbreaking multi-genre festival” that will take over Sydney Showground on Saturday, November 29th, and Melbourne Showgrounds on Sunday, November 30th, 2025.
Though Hypersonic is new, its DNA is steeped in dance music history. The festival is spearheaded by Richie McNeill, a pioneer of Australia’s electronic scene, alongside Janette Bishara, both of whom bring decades of experience to the brand. McNeill, known to many as DJ Richie Rich, previously co-founded the now-legendary Stereosonic, which at its peak drew over 280,000 fans across five cities in a single year. Bishara, meanwhile, has produced some of the biggest names and brands in the business, including Armin Only, A State of Trance, Above & Beyond, and more.
Stereosonic’s legacy looms large. The festival, which ran from 2007 until its hiatus in 2016, was one of the most successful electronic music brands in the world. Hypersonic now picks up that torch, looking to combine world-class production, a multi-stage format, and a wide-reaching line-up to deliver an unforgettable experience for fans of all genres.
Hypersonic Line-Up
Hypersonic’s debut line-up has finally been revealed, following a week of teasers that sent dance music fans into overdrive. The inaugural edition will feature a stacked roster of international and local talent, spanning trance, techno, house, and hard dance.
“This is your intro to summer,” the organisers teased alongside the announcement. “We just gave your summer a main character arc. You’re welcome.”
The launch of Hypersonic arrives at a time when electronic music continues to dominate Australia’s live music landscape. According to Creative Australia’s Soundcheck report, electronic music makes up nearly one in four music festivals nationwide (23%), cementing it as the country’s leading festival genre. Globally, Australia also ranks as the third-largest market for electronic music, trailing only the United States and Germany, with locals streaming more of the genre per capita than anywhere else.
