We are saddened to announce the Knife Party Abandon Ship Australian tour, set to kick off this December has been cancelled.
While the breaking news has left fans across the country shocked, some good news had come out of the situation.
Australia’s Future Music fesitval, which already boasts massive names like Drake, The Prodigy, Avicii, Nero and Carnage, (to name a few) is set to get even bigger.
The festival which will also have a second lineup drop in the not too distant future will now host Knife Party, with a headline mainstage performance.
Rob Swire from Knife Party, broke the news to Richard Kingsmill on Triple J.
“We were planning to come down and do a little tour over there – the five [Australian capital] cities and Auckland but we got approached by Future Music at the last minute who said, ‘instead of doing that why don’t you headline the main stage?'”
“We couldn’t really do both at once so we had to pick one and that was it,” Swire explained, telling Kingsmill festival promoters “weren’t saying that we couldn’t [do both tours] but it just wouldn’t have made sense, I think.”
The announcement will mark their second consecutive Future Music appearance, following their highly appraised Haunted House arena production earlier this year.
The tour news arrives off the back of the release of Knife Party’s first full-length album, Abandon Ship, which we have had on repeat, you can read the full review here.
