In any one year approximately 1 million Australian adults have depression, over 2 million have anxiety and rates are even higher in the music industry, with musicians twice as likely to attempt suicide. Rave Reviewz founder Dr Kamran Ahmed is a psychiatrist who became aware of these high rates and realised music is a great way to raise awareness of mental health issues and money for charities working to address them.
Last year, the Music on my Mind campaign raised $18,750 for mental health charities and reached over 250,000 people through social media, raising awareness. This year with grants from City of Sydney and Way Ahead, Music on my Mind will be even bigger and better.
