Although not listed as part of the tour, this event will feature the artist’s performance. In a separate announcement, it was revealed that Pretty Lights will also headline the inaugural Cascade Equinox festival taking place in Redmond, Ore. this September. Produced by the team behind the renowned Gem & Jam festival in Arizona, the new event promises to be another remarkable addition to the artist’s itinerary. Incorporating fresh elements to his performances, Pretty Lights will present two new types of shows during his Soundship Spacesystem Tour: Pretty Lights in Dub and The Fantastic Pretty Lights. The latter is anticipated to be a collaborative effort with long-time friend Michal Menert and The Pretty Fantastics. A new, yet-to-be-titled track that appears to reflect his re-entry into the industry, was performed by Pretty Lights in the tour announcement video. The lyrics state: “I’ll fly a starship across the universe tonight/ And when I reach the other side/ I’ll find a place to rest my spirit if I can/ Perhaps I may become a pretty light again/ Or I may simply be a single drop of rain/ But I will remain/ And I’ll be back again.” The track is available to listen to below. Following his last live appearance at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in 2018, where he headlined the venue with his live band over two sold-out nights, Pretty Lights, whose real name is Derek Vincent Smith, retreated from the industry without any formal explanation. • Maya Jane Coles drops ‘LDN’ EP under Nocturnal Sunshine alias maya-jane-coles-ldn-feature-oz-edm

Maya Jane Coles releases the next project under her Nocturnal Sunshine alias, joining forces with mysterious rapper CHA$EY JON£S on brand-new EP ‘LDN’, out now. Growing up in west London in the mid-00s, much of Maya’s influences were within the rap and hip-hop worlds, something reflected in this latest EP, ‘LDN’ which offers fans a rarely-seen glimpse into what Maya might sound like if she hadn’t pursued a career in electronic music. Under the Nocturnal Sunshine moniker, Maya explores grittier musical themes and on ‘LDN’ has teamed up with rapper, actor (Top Boy, I May Destroy You), and childhood friend CHA$EY JON£S, to redress the balance. Having originally made music together while at school in London, ‘LDN’ represents a full circle moment for both artists. Continuing with this energy is ‘No Smoke’, while ‘Really Really’ brings darker, menacing energy. ‘Tralalala’ is the most maximalist track on the EP, before ‘CHA$EY’ ensures things close out on a memorable note. “It feels amazing to finally be able to share this EP with you all,” says Maya. “The Nocturnal Sunshine x CHA$EY JON£S project is something very close to my heart. I was producing hip-hop years before I ever got into electronic/club music, it was my first musical love. Not only that but Cha$ey and I used to make music together when we were 15 and we even started a rap duo back then. Years later, to be making music again with one of my best mates feels like magic. ‘LDN’ is a collection of the first tracks we made when we started working together again. We’ve been working on so much material and this is only the beginning of what’s to come.” It’s been more than ten years since British-Japanese artist Maya Jane Coles unleashed the modern house classic ‘What They Say’. She has since shifted the focus towards her Nocturnal Sunshine project, collaborating with the likes of Peaches, Miss Kittin and Young M.A. among others. After a whirlwind fourteen years in the dance music industry, famed Festival Trap founder Carnage has announced his retirement at the age of 31. Carnage’s groundbreaking work in the early 2010s helped usher in a new genre called “festival trap,” a thunderous, 808-heavy twist on the saturated electro music that dominated festivals at the time. Buoyed by a thriving SoundCloud community, festival trap quickly became a movement—and Carnage was its vanguard. While dance music was his primary focus, Carnage’s brushstroke painted a far more colorful mosaic in the music community. • Moss Has Heart-Melting Bass On ‘Speed Dial’ In Latest Release With BRIA moss-speed-dial-oz-edm-feature-2021

Australia’s rising star Moss returns with a heavy-hitting follow up to ‘SABRE TEETH’, releasing ‘SPEED DIAL (feat. BRIA)’ via October Records. After making a splash with his triple j Unearthed DIY Supergroup winning track, Moss picks up where ‘SABRE TEETH (feat. Genesis Owusu)’ left off, introducing the single with subtle didgeridoo vibrations before the foot is pressed down on the sonic gas pedal. The Indigenous producer’s aptitude for utilising dynamic drums and powerful bass to evoke atmospheric and emotive narratives is on full display. He teams with Brisbane-based up-and-coming singer/songwriter BRIA who’s pertinent vocals centred around the uncertainty and instability of online dating, provide the perfect hook. Moss discusses the single and the direction of his sound saying, “I’ve teamed up on this record with powerhouse singer/ songwriter BRIA and we’ve built something very special. SPEED DIAL is the sonic infusion of the ups and downs of online dating – especially when they don’t text back. This single represents a development of my sound and I can’t wait for you to hear it. All gas, no brakes.” On the narrative behind the record, BRIA said, “The idea for SPEED DIAL came out of the 2020 Brisbane COVID lockdown. After everyone was exclusively online dating, I found hookup culture was more present than ever. Moss’ dramatic production was the perfect accompaniment for my narrator’s situationship.” Brisbane talent BRIA, who amassed a sizable online following across TikTok and Instagram, recently released her debut single ‘Taking It Off’. The track has seen airplay on triple j and acclaim from Declan Byrne, Tommy Faith, Abby Butler, and Dave Ruby Howe on triple j Unearthed. Embracing femininity and sensuality within her craft, she takes influences from the likes of Charli XCX, Lorde, and Caroline Polachek. Sydney-based producer, Moss rose to prominence earlier this year after taking out the triple j Unearthed DIY Supergroup competition, with his release ‘SABRE TEETH’, before announcing his signing to October Records. Sampling the likes of Alison Wonderland, Touch Sensitive, San Cisco, Vallis Alps, and Genesis Owusu, the latter of which jumped on as a feature artist, Moss crafted a very Australian moment, yet it was his iconic didgeridoo bass drop that impressed triple j presenters and listeners alike. The track went on to become one of the most played on the station, with Moss appearing on triple j’s Friday Mix, and Mix Up as part of NAIDOC week, while the single’s momentum carried it to the top of the Australian Shazam Chart. While ‘SABRE TEETH’ showcased Moss’ talent to a wider audience, the bass producer has been honing his craft with singles such as ‘From The Start’ and ‘Shimmer’ both of which premiered on triple j and rose the triple j Unearthed Electronic charts. Having already played alongside some of the heaviest hitters in the industry – Skrillex, RL Grime, Flosstradamus, Marshmello, just to name a few – Moss has positioned himself as a producer capable of rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s best.
