Finnish DJ and producer Otto Yliperttula, aka Yotto, is a dance music star in the making.

Having debuted on Anjunadeep in early 2015, he quickly caught the ear of BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong and Annie Mac, since then picking up 5 ‘Essential New Tunes’ and 3 ‘Hottest Records In The World’, along with over 40 million streams and DJ support from the likes of Solomun, Jamie Jones, Patrice Baumel, Eric Prydz, Adriatique and Joris Voorn, who signed Yotto to his renowned Green label.

With such a bevy of support, Yotto is primed to join the big leagues with the release of his debut album, Hyperfall, the culmination of three years in ascendance.

“This record is generally inspired by the feeling of having lost and found your car keys at the same time,” described the artist. “There’s drama, distress and deep, profound contemplation mirrored with relief and relentless joy.”

The album’s first single ‘The One You Left Behind exemplifies the quintessential Yotto sound. Powered by a dynamic low-end groove, the track begins with ethereal, floating synths before vocals from Iceland’s Vök lead to a euphoric crescendo.

“I wrote this emotional club instrumental while sitting in a hotel room last summer and always felt like it was missing the last piece in the puzzle,” Yotto explains. “I’m really into this Icelandic band called Vök and was lucky to get their singer Margret to add her tone to the track. There’s a lot of moody Scandinavian melancholia here that I like in the form of a simple, straightforward club track.”

Yotto is also announcing his biggest tour to date, starting with shows across Europe and both North and South America.

    • Giuseppe Ottaviani Announces New Album Horizons [Part 1] horizons-part-1-giuseppe-ottaviani-oz-edm-feature

In the eyes of fans, Giuseppe Ottaviani has remained the most steadfast producer in the genre. Famed for his resolutely exacting productions, there’s been a long-held perception of him as a ‘known-quantity’. For those prepared to look deeper though, there’s always been another side to the composer, performer, and most recently – through his Masterclass production series. Giuseppe’s been a deft and artful innovator – balancing out that dependability with hidden-in-plain-sight advancements. That characteristic has now been channelled into his ‘Horizons’ project. Giuseppe’s Live 2.0 & 3.0 performances essentially turned clubs into recording studios, in turn beginning the production processes for 2019’s ‘Evolver’ album. Earlier than that even, with 2016’s ‘Alma’, his ‘Slow Emotion’ tracks had already begun playing with the idea of what Giuseppe ‘was’. In tandem, they were essentially laying the foundation blocks for ‘Horizons’. Commenting on this “modification” (as Giuseppe terms it), he observes that “change seems to have become our ‘constant’ of late. As such, I imagine that something of this nature was always going to be reflected in the ‘Horizons’ albums”. What that modification means in real terms is “music produced with less of a clubfloor focus to it. Adaptable, certainly, he suggests, but at this moment in time, not reliant upon.” Ottaviani’s most predominant shift in concentration has been in tone and song. Specifically, that’s meant utilising sounds from outside of his usual remit and a greatly increased emphasis on deeply meaningful and relatable lyrics. Indeed, ‘Horizons’ and ‘Evolver’ hold their own unique symbiosis: ‘Evolver’ being purely instrumental, while ‘Horizons [Part 1]’ is vocal-detailed near enough throughout. That, to no small degree, was due to the prevailing circumstances. Clubs were closed, but singers and songwriters were anything but. This allowed Giuseppe all the time necessary to pinpoint the voices that would work best with the music he was producing and rally them to its cause. With the artistic taps wide-open, ‘Horizons’ productions became an outpour. To such a degree in fact, that it quickly spilled the banks of the conventional album and was divided, naturally enough, into two. Through its advance-word singles, ‘Horizons [Part 1]’ has already outlined a cooler, deeper, more mindful tone to fans. That – often for the first time – has brought voices well known in other electronic music quarters to trance’s door. Among them have been songstresses like Monika Santucci, April Bender, Mila Josef and Natalie Shay. Giuseppe also draws on deeper tones from vocalists like Jan Burton and Dan Soleil, all of who collectively shape the unique sound of ‘Horizons [Part 1]’. At every opportunity, Giuseppe gently underscores that the two volumes of ‘Horizons’ don’t necessarily represent a permanent change. It’s a vocal yin to ‘Evolver’s instrumental yang, a sonic amendment that chimes more with our current times and an reflection of an artist more adept at adapting than conventional wisdom suggests. Turning to face summer 2022, the first part of ‘Horizons’ – Giuseppe Ottaviani’s new album project, is released on May 20. You can pre-order or save it via this link from today. • MaRLo & Achilles Join Forces For ‘Nothing Is Left’ marlo-nothing-is-left-feature-oz-edm

After being premiered together on stage at MaRLo’s Melbourne Altitude show – ‘Nothing Is Left’ has arrived. Hot off the heels of chart topping hits including ‘This Way’ and ‘This Way,’ MaRLo join forces with Achilles a banging new record with elements of trance and techno that create a stellar production that is sure to stand out in both acts’ discographies. Played by Armin van Buuren in his A State Of Trance radio show, fans noted the track as a stand out of the show. ‘Nothing Is Left’ should be a blueprint for what a tech trance record should sound like. With massive drops, engaging melodies and vibrant sounds – the track is pretty much perfect. The record also showcases sounds and elements from each collaborator, as MaRLo’s signature trance sound is felt during the drop and Achilles’ hard hitting production is a constant throughout the track. • Above & Beyond’s Hit ‘Almost Home’ Gets Remix Treatment From MitiS and Ashibah above-and-beyond-abgt350-stream-feature

Chart topping hit ‘Almost Home’, Above & Beyond and long-term collaborator Justine Suissa receives official remixes from MitiS and Ashibah. Jono, Tony, Paavo, and Justine have been working together since 2000 when they formed the group OceanLab. In 2008, they released their first and only album ‘Sirens Of The Sea’, a record that has gained near-mythical status among trance fans. More recently, Above & Beyond and Justine have collaborated on club hits like ‘Alright Now’, ‘Cold Feet’ and ‘Another Chance’, and emotive, downtempo records like ‘Little Something’. In 2016, Justine joined Above & Beyond during their sell-out ‘Acoustic II’ tour, which stopped at iconic venues like the Royal Albert Hall in London and The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. ‘Almost Home’ was released in September 2021, arriving just in time for their Group Therapy 450 milestone show at The Drumsheds London. ‘Almost Home’ has been on frequent rotation across SiriusXM BPM and iHeart Evolution and has been supported by the likes of The Chainsmokers, Armin van Buuren, and Oliver Heldens. This latest package combines A&B’s original and deep mixes of ‘Almost Home’ with new reworks from MitiS and Ashibah. Trained as a classical pianist from a young age, MitiS has been releasing electronic music since 2012. He’s a mainstay on Ophelia Records, releasing two acclaimed studio albums on the label and collaborating with Seven Lions, Crystal Skies, RBBTS, and more. His bass-driven rework of ‘Almost Home’ is his first remix on Anjunabeats. Danish/Egyptian DJ, producer, and vocalist Ashibah also makes her debut on the label. Her 2020 release ‘Devotion’ on Defected was a high flyer on Beatport, charting in the Top 10. “I really couldn’t believe it when Above & Beyond asked me to do a remix. I’ve always loved their music since I started listening to dance music, so this is a full-circle moment for sure. So thankful for them and their whole team for this opportunity, and I hope everyone enjoys it.” – MitiS “This remix was a super fun project and a great pleasure because I have been a fan of Above & Beyond for years and when heard the vocal and the original it was a real nostalgic feeling of those good old rave days. Made about 5 different versions cause a million ideas popped into my head but I am super happy with the end result. I took a melodic house approach with lots of drama on the drops but still lots of space for the beautiful vocal to shine and it does.” – Ashibah Above & Beyond and Justine Suissa ‘Almost Home’ (The Remixes) is out now on Anjunabeats. • Wongo Unleashes New Hit ‘The Preacher’ the-preacher-wongo-oz-edm

Wongo Helps Us See The Light With ‘The Preacher’ Featuring The Legendary Chuck Roberts. DJ, producer, former professional breakdancer and full-time funny man Wongo is ready to show us the light with his new single ‘The Preacher’. Featuring the legendary ‘voice of house music’ Chuck Roberts delivering a sermon-like vocal, ‘The Preacher’ encourages everyone to harness the power of love over adversity, delivered in a heater of a house track, with a sample from jazz artist Bob James. “Bob James is probably my favourite composer of all time by a long shot,” explains Wongo. “His ‘Shamboozie’ record had a huge effect on me from my b-boy days, so being able to sample one of his hits is a big deal for me! On top of that, having the lord Chuck Roberts on vocals… I’m done haha. Proper nostalgia vibes!” With a monthly radio show on Insomniac Radio in the US, numerous ARIA Club Chart #1s, sold-out tours, support from Mixmag, Billboard, Complex, Don Diablo, Claptone and Zeds Dead, amongst many more, Wongo is a force to be reckoned with. His most recent single ‘Apple’ hit #1 on the ARIA Club Chart, reached the top 20 of both the Shazam and Spotify Viral chart in Australia, and hit the most played spot on triple j, becoming the biggest club record in the country. Added to this, in 2020 Wongo launched his Need2Freak parties alongside Little Fritter, selling 3,000 tickets and calling on his mate FISHER to do a surprise B2B set. Need2Freek also hosted a stage at Grass Is Greener festival in Cairns in late 2021. In a scene dominated by DJs and producers, it is hard to believe that the most definitive moment in the birth of house music came not from beats, chords or vocals, but a sermon. The House Music Gospel or The Preacher’s Anthem are just a few of the descriptions anyone with even a passing interest in the genre will no doubt have heard in the impassioned intonation of “In The Beginning There was Jack, and Jack had a groove”, the opening line of Chuck Roberts’ soul stirring speech, a performance that was first heard in Rhythm Controll’s seminal 1987 track ‘My House’. Later resampled by Larry Heard, AKA Mr Fingers for ‘Can You Feel It’, often cited as the first deep house record ever released. As well as sampled on well over 120 various recordings. Roberts’ new sermon in ‘The Preacher’ once again delivers a soul-stirring message, letting people know that even in the face of adversity “what you need to know and understand and what you need to be able to stand on is this… there is a way out.” Wongo’s ‘The Preacher’ is primed for all b-boys and girls to get back on the dancefloor and know “the thing inside of us that can conquer any obstacle that’s placed in our way… this my friend is love.” Wongo’s latest hit, ‘The Preacher’ featuring Chuck Roberts is out now, get your first listen below!

    • Matroda Unleashes Two Certified House Gems On “Gotta Let You Go” matroda-2022-oz-edm-feature

Matroda makes his way back over to Insomniac Records with another standout appearance arriving in the shape of his new two-track release, ‘Gotta Let You Go.’ The Croatian house producer has proven to be one of the most well-rounded figures currently holding court in the house music space, with an impressive repertoire of tracks that have seen maneuvering through influences like a madman. His versatility has been littered courteously across the Insomniac catalog via a string of releases stretching back all the way to his label debut in 2020. So, it’s only fitting his newest offering would see him splitting between both ends of the spectrum like the chameleonic champion that he is. On the title cut “Gotta Let You Go,” he opts for a warm piano-driven groove about cutting ties with a love that seems to have lost its luster. A diva-friendly vocal wails without a shred of remorse, belting out the cold hard truth over bright piano stabs that scamper above a bed of pumping percussion. Its deceptively upbeat nature serves as a pleasant reminder that there’s always sunshine to be had at the end of a storm. “Touchin’ Me” leans into tougher tech house territory, another area of expertise for the artist in question. Pulsating basslines and shuffling drums ride atop the crest of a crescendo, until the chunky synth lead alternates its pitch through sporadic quick bursts above vocal chops and a mighty hook calling out the track’s namesake. A swelling ricochet leads us into the breakdown, eventually flaring up to make full contact through its thumping tactile sequence. On both tracks, Matroda shows us yet again that he has his hands in all the right places. Matroda’s latest two-track offering is emblematic of the fluidity he’s perfected over the last few years. He’s made a habit out of pushing his own limits on the Insomniac imprint, returning regularly to make a run at almost any influence that happens to pique his interest. From the brooding, nostalgia laced “When We We Young,” the pumping piano jam “Lifting,” all the way through to his moody heartbreak anthem “Forget It” (which is closing in on 10 million streams), nothing is off the table for him. Out now via Beatport and all streaming platforms, get your first listen below!

    • FISHER Unleashes Latest Hit ‘Palm Beach Banga’ fisher-palm-beach-banga-oz-edm-2022-feature

Grammy-nominated Australian DJ and producer FISHER celebrates his first release of 2022 with a deftly crafted volume-cranker, ‘Palm Beach Banga’. Appearing in FISHER’s DJ sets since 2019, the track has been continually worked on to the point of perfection and is finally ready for release on February 11th via etcetc in Australia and New Zealand. As various Australian state governments continue to restrict dancing, FISHER’s new song asks us the poignant question, ‘Can you dance to my beat?’ Featuring an absolute classic vocal akin to Green Velvet’s ‘La La Land’, US house music royalty Palmer Brown aka Kevin Hedge’s (Blaze, Stardust, De’Lacy) vocal tops the acidy tech house production from FISHER. Not short of social commentary, ‘Palm Beach Banga’ has been spotted in FISHER and fans’ social posts at shows in the US (Electric Zoo, Elrow, Marquee) and UK (Creamfields, The Drumsheds and Printworks) over the last 12 months.  An homage to the stomping ground of a grommet surfer FISHER, Palm Beach is a coastal suburb on Queensland’s Gold Coast, an area where Paul Fisher now lives with his wife Chloe Chapman and friends from high school who he’s still close to today. Known for his wild sense of humour and energetic performance persona, FISHER first burst onto the electronic scene with tracks ‘Stop It’ and ‘Ya Kidding’, since becoming one of the scene’s most in-demand artists. His 2018 Grammy and ARIA-nominated single ‘Losing It’, definitively iconic, was one of the most impactful songs of the year, reaching #2 on triple j’s Hottest 100 and having now been streamed on Spotify over 300 million times. The rest of FISHER’s 2022 boasts a full international travel itinerary and more new music, before he returns home to Australia for his massive FISHER Beach Party, hitting Perth, Brisbane, Wollongong and St Kilda. Arriving just in time for Australia to demand dancing and club life to return to all, ‘Palm Beach Banga’ has all of the elements fans look for when they launch themselves back onto the dancefloor.
