Deadmau5 – 4×4=12

‘4×4=12’ (pronounced “four times four equals twelve”) is the fifth studio album by Canadian electronic music producer Deadmau5. Released in December of 2010, the album’s title refers to a miscalculation made by Deadmau5 on his Ustream channel, where he mistakenly said that his live setup of 4 banks of 4 “=12” instead of 16. 2009’s sophomore ‘For Lack of a Better Name’ was a big hit, spawning top 20 hit Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff. But Deadmau5 had even grander schemes in mind, and when ‘4×4=12’ arrived it turned out to be a solidly crafted club record with only the most fleeting of nods towards creating something more expansive.

Many festival favourites spawned from this album, including hits like ‘Animal Rights’, ‘Raise Your Weapon’, ‘Sofi Needs a Ladder’, ‘Some Chords’ and ‘Cthulu Sleeps.’ The album also received a nomination at the 54th Grammy Awards for Best Dance/Electronica Album.
