Tomorrowland To Span 3 Weekends In 2022

Tomorrowland is set to go bigger than ever before in 2022, after receiving the regulatory green light by Belgian regulators.

Next year will mark a triumphant return for Belgium’s Tomorrowland festival. Following two consecutive years of cancelled festivals due to the Covid pandemic, the world’s biggest dance music festival will return for three consecutive weekends in 2022.

Clearly making up for lost time, Tomorrowland sought approval from Belgium regulators to host its 2022 festival over three consecutive weekends. Regulators have officially approved the request as Tomorrowland has now reportedly received a permit from the province of Antwerp to move forward with their plans for expansion.

“We are of course very happy with this,” said Tomorrowland spokesperson Debby Wilmsen, per Knack Focus. “We can now get to work preparing three weekends. They will all fall in July. We will work in the same way as with two editions… with the necessary variations on the poster.”

All three festival weekends are expected to take place in the month of July, while Tomorrowland Winter is expected to return to the French Western Alps in March.

Tomorrowland additionally needs the blessings of the municipal authorities of Boom and Rumst, but Belgium regulators seem favorable to organisers’ plans provided their adherence to a number of compromises. As Knack notes, the cancellation of Tomorrowland‘s helicopter flights and limiting the length of the opening party celebrations are two requests that have been made, both of which Tomorrowland organizers are agreeable to. “These are points that have come from consultation with the neighborhood,” Wilmsen added. “So we were aware of this and we will stick to those agreements.”

Tomorrowland‘s last festival took place in 2019 and saw an attendance of over 400,000 dance music lovers from all across the globe – relive the memories from the official aftermovie below!
